What is desired in a man is steadfast love,………..  Proverbs 19:22 English Standard Version

Recently one of our readers brought the scripture above to my attention and it intrigued me spiritually and naturally.  Once I studied it out, I now understand why.  The gentleman mentioned that because God is Love and all men, believers and unbelievers alike are created in His image we ALL REQUIRE LOVE.  Love IS Who the person Whom created us is.  Some people are aware of their need for love, others are not and some deny their need for it to their detriment.  Why? Because to try to live without love is worse than trying to live without food, or even oxygen.  Those are natural requirements but ultimately and at his or her root man IS a spirit.  So man requires spiritual sustenance to really live and be completely healthy and whole spirit, soul and body.  Many times when you see grown people acting like children or children acting out, in some cases, not all, if you can sit with them and go home with them you would discover somewhere that love is lacking or they do not believe they are loved.  The first part of the scripture says, “What is desired in a man is steadfast love……”  That word steadfast love is the Hebrew word checed or hesed in the Old Testament.  It means favor, good deeds, kindness or loving kindness. In the New Testament you see this word as the word grace.  Grace is the Greek work charis where we get our word charisma from and it means favor and kindness.   This  information is not from a fiction book this is The Word of God, Who is Jesus and that means it is TRUTH.  God the Father never changes.  The Old Testament constantly speaks of His loving kindness and that it is better than life.  In the New Testament where is this loving kindness found?  What is it’s Source?  It is God the Father in the Person of  Jesus Christ His Son.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:14 English Standard Version

Jesus is FULL of GRACE and TRUTH. Look at this version of the same scripture and compare it with our opening text.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14 New Living Translation

What is desired in a man is steadfast love….. Proverbs 19:22 English Standard Version

Jesus is FULL of this steadfast love, unfailing love and faithfulness that people desire in all men and women.  Oh this is so powerful!!! The scripture in Proverbs declares that what people really desire from other people is steadfast love which is favor, kindness.  The definition in the Strongs dictionary is the kindness of men towards men, in doing favours and benefits.  People were designed by God to be a blessing to each other, to do favors for each other and be a benefit to one another.  When Adam sinned things turned and became perverted.  God who is Love did not give up.  His plan was and is still to bless men today and make men a blessing to other men.  Look at what he told Abram.

The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.  Genesis 12:1-2  New Living Translation

Abram who later became Abraham fulfilled this and walked in this.  That same blessing to be a blessing is OURS through Christ Jesus.  Man lost that ability to truly love and be truly kind to each other in the garden of Eden.  But in the garden of Gethsamne  Jesus got it all back for us.  Look at what He prayed, and received in that garden.

I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Me may be in them and that I myself may be in them. John 17:26 NIV

The same Love that The Father has for Jesus (loving kindness) is now in us and Jesus Who is GRACE and TRUTH is Himself in us.  Although all people did not recognize it when Jesus came He was the Man they were looking for.  He was the One they desired.  He is the One with the STEADFAST LOVE!!!!  What is desired in a man is steadfast love.  People are looking for kindness.  People are looking for someone to love them not judge them or curse them because they are a fornicator or a homosexual or a murderer.  What is desired in a man by other men is steadfast love!  Love that can be trusted, that will not change when people blow it or mess up.  This is STEADFAST LOVE.  It stays steady regardless of mistakes or mess-ups. It is agape love, unconditional.  It is the Love of the Father Himself Who is Love!!!

So although people may seem to want money from you or time or other things, deep down they only desire steadfast love.  When you give money to people, that is a form of steadfast love. When you give time to people, that is a form of steadfast love. When you extend favor to people even when they don’t deserve it THAT IS GRACE!!!  The same thing that saved you. Unmerited, undeserved GRACE Who is JESUS!!!!  God the Father through Jesus has GIVEN you steadfast love in the person of His Son.  Freely you have received steadfast love, be sure to freely GIVE steadfast love!!!

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!

P.S. Thanks Richard!!!!

I debated publishing this before in three parts and did but I really realized to get the full impact of the revelation, it needs to be taken in one dose.  I realize that it is long, but it is worth it.  A lot of times the reason why believers fail in various enterprises or ventures is because, “failure was an option at the onset.”  I believe with all my heart and I trust that the Holy Ghost has revealed this, believers need to begin to step out and do what they love because LOVE NEVER FAILS because LOVE NEVER QUITS!!! It took God the Father 4000 years to get Jesus here but He never quit.  Why? Because He loved and loves US.  LOVE NEVER FAILS!!!  I pray you get the revelation in this post.

Love never fails I Corinthians 13:8 New International Version

Do you realize that you can do the impossible with Love?  Stop for one minute and really think about that.  People spend a lot of time and money trying to figure out how they can do things that men see and say are impossible.  Believers and unbelievers alike pursue these things not realizing that what they seek is readily available to them each and every single day.  The real issue is their attention and focus is simply pointed in the wrong direction.  Many times the thought is, “If I could just get enough money or if I could get that new job everything would be great!”  The truth is it’s not what you have, it’s WHO you have.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.  Luke 1:37 KJV

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. I John 4:16 New Living Translation

So if you are a believer, God is with you.  And if you are not a believer, you can have God with you in 3 seconds by declaring, “Jesus I receive You and Your finished work!”  Jesus is the way to The Father.  And once you accept that way God is with you and nothing is impossible.  Now in a lot of cases many ministers would say don’t worry about the how, just believe and that is true.  Focusing on the how can sometimes be a distraction if you focus there.  But The Word of God tells us in the book of Proverbs that in all our getting get understanding.  So how about we get some understanding on this.  The first and main reason you and every person saved or unsaved should know and understand as to how and why God the Father does things is because of LOVE.  LOVE is powerful because Love is God or God is Love.  When we take the various truths of The Word of God and examine them, it really becomes quite clear how and why Love is so powerful and how with Love(God) all things are possible. Lets take a look at Love in the famous love chapter I Corinthians 13.

I Corinthians 13 J.B. Phillips Translation

4 This love of which I speak is slow to lose patience—it looks for a way of being constructive. It is not possessive: it is neither anxious to impress nor does it cherish inflated ideas of its own importance.

5-6 Love has good manners and does not pursue selfish advantage. It is not touchy. It does not keep account of evil or gloat over the wickedness of other people. On the contrary, it is glad with all good men when truth prevails.

7-8a Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the one thing that still stands when all else has fallen.

That indeed is a mouthful or a headful or however you have just ingested it.  So much has just been said in those four short verses.  Let’s deconstruct this with the help of the Helper, The Holy Ghost, and get all the nutrients out of what has just been said.  The fourth verse speaks of how Love(God) is slow to lose patience and has sought out ways to be constructive or beneficial to us as people in general, not just believers.   It then goes on to focus on how love has nothing to do with selfishness and how it is not concerned primarily with what people think of them nor does it operate in a conceited way about herself.  Now this bears some attention as many people and preachers paint a picture of a God Who is completely selfish and possibly what would be classified in human terms as an ego maniac.  This false ‘god’ they paint a picture of is the one sitting on the throne with a lightning bolt waiting to catch you doing one thing wrong so he can fry you accordingly.  Let me assure you, nothing could be further from the truth.  This directly opposes the patience and love described in the fourth verse. So when you see God described in this way be sure to take that misinformation and store it somewhere useful, like the trash bin and don’t forget to empty it.  Verses five and six expound even further regarding how unselfish Love(God) is.  Let’s look at it in a different version of the Bible

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;  I Corinthians 13:5 KJV

So we see here that Love(God) is not easily provoked.  That means that love is not irritable, touchy, behaving like a child that does not gets its way. In addition we see here the maturity of God the Father and how His Love in us can mature us and cause us to overcome our selfish and irritable human tendencies when we realize that we are God’s (Love’s) very own children.  The same characteristics and traits and abilities and powers that are in God the Father are in us through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Do you see however that it also says, “seeketh not her own” in the verse?  That means that Jesus is not going to force you to walk in His character even if you are born again because Love has the utmost respect for people and their free will.  Jesus in you by way of the Holy Spirit will help you. The Holy Spirit is described as the Helper but He will not force you because He is not seeking His own way.  We all miss it but when we understand Love and the will of Love and yield to it, it makes us failure proof.  We will get to that in a moment.

I believe it would be very good to focus on one aspect of Love as described in the King James Version of the fifth verse where it states (Love) thinketh no evil.  This is BIG!!! Did I mention that this is BIG? Okay let me say it again.  This is BIG!!!  There is a scripture in the book of Jeremiah.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

I was meditating this scripture one day and the Lord spoke to me on the inside and told me something I will never forget.  He said to me, “Vincent, one of the reasons (not the main reason) I do not think bad thoughts about you is because if I did, I am so powerful that even my thoughts would manifest.”  I really took that to heart and have kept it tucked away to help me as a parent and as a person.  Now I know the main reason that God does not think bad or negative thoughts towards us is because of The Blood of Jesus has removed our sins completely and God promised He would not remember them anymore and I believe that.  I encourage you  to believe that too.  But its interesting to see how powerful even the thoughts of God are.  It also helps to know that His good and peaceful thoughts are manifesting towards me even now and I believe that and that is how we receive them.  But this does not just teach me about God the Father, this also shows me myself because I am His child.  Lets get back to the fifth verse of I Corinthians 13. (Love) thinketh no evil.  We are New Testament believers.  We are not under the Old Testament and we are not under the law.  It may seem like God(Love) used to think evil in the Old Testament by many of the things that you see that are described and happened to people.

What you have to understand is that the evil things that happened to people then that were of God were in some cases punishment and in some cases justice.  This evil people brought on themselves by breaking the law.  It’s no different from the law system we have in place.  Under the law if you do good you get good but if you do bad you get bad.  Such is not so today and all praise to God the Father and Jesus!  Because of Jesus (Love) thinketh no evil. Now once again many people and preachers have said and teach that sex and drugs and drinking is evil.  I don’t have time to focus on the so-called “big sins” that some of these people always try to use.  I would rather bring to light some of  the evils that are often kept in the dark such as financial lack, sickness, sadness, depression, poverty, family dysfunction, failure mentality and a few others.  In the Garden of Eden, we all know that none of the aforementioned things existed.  The curse came as a result of Adam disobeying God the Father and then those things begin their manifestation.

The scripture in I Corinthians 13:5 says (Love) thinketh no evil.  This is an evil world in the natural and spiritual. But The Word of God tells us that we are in the world but we are not of this world.  As a result of this and the truth that love thinketh know evil, we should not be thinking evil thoughts.  Naturally they will come to your mind but we should not be meditating them, entertaining them or feeding them. What happens when you feed a little baby?   It grows up get bigger and gets stronger.  This is how what started off as a thought becomes what is called a stronghold.  A stronghold is an area of your mind or thinking where you have allowed that thought, or discipline to become an unconscious way of doing things to the point that  you do it and think it without really thinking about it.  Please believe me I am not condemning you this is meant to be constructive and has everything to do with our success in the things of God and our families, jobs, businesses and everyday lives.  Please allow me to show you what I mean by getting back to our opening text.

Love never fails I Corinthians 13:8 New International Version

I have heard some people say that failure is a good thing and I have heard others say that failure is a bad thing.  I understand both points but at the same time I don’t put anything above the Lord or above The Word.  I had to correct my own self about this when I saw it recently.  So let’s go with The Word of God.  What man says about failure does not really matter.  When I see that God is Love and then I see that Love NEVER fails I am going to go with LOVE.  As I was sitting meditating on this chapter of I Corinthians 13, I realized that God is the Author of the quote, “FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION”.  And if you know God at all you know that He has never failed.  It may look like He failed or it may look like He’s failing but God (Love) never fails.  The issue is do you know and believe THE LOVE?

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. I John 4:16 KJV

The secret is I must know and believe the Love the Love that God has for me.  I don’t care what my mind says I must stick with and you must stick with The Word.  Don’t think evil and say, “Do I really know and believe the love that God has for me?”  (Love) thinketh no evil.  Just agree with The Word and say, “The Word of God says I have known and believed the love that God has for me.  I agree with The Word.”  When you do that and say that it will be in your mouth and then get in your heart and YOU WILL know without a shadow of a doubt that you KNOW and BELIEVE the Love that God has for you and you will never fail.  Don’t go off of the world’s definition for failure.  You are successful because Jesus has made you a success not because you win this contest of that prize.  You must know that you are already a success and then that success in Christ will manifest in your natural life and circumstances.  Love thinketh no evil.  Love never fails.  Failure is evil.  Failure is sin for all practical purposes and by definition.  The word sin comes from the greek word harmatia and it  means ‘to miss the mark.‘  If a person starts a company and plans to make it a successful multimillion dollar company but shuts down in six months, in the natural it would be seen as a failure or by definition a sin because he or she did not hit the mark they missed the mark.  It’s just that plain and simple.  People fail or miss the mark (sin) everyday.  They set a goal to do something with their kids or their husband and somehow it does not happen.  By definition that is sin because they missed the mark.  They did not do what they set out to do.  But If you look closer especially with things like businesses and ventures and ideas, people miss the mark many times over.  How did this happen?  Because at the start of the thing, FAILURE WAS AN OPTION.  They thought about failure, considered it as a possibility and worse even talked about it and had discussions and meetings with partners or bankers about failure being possible.

Today it is common and a general consensus that when a person starts a new business or a new venture that, “Hey you know the business could fail!”  It’s almost like the world’s way of making sure that ingredient is added to as many of the cakes of dreams and ideas as they possibly can.  Would you call starting a business or venture and then entertaining thoughts of possible failure a good thing or an evil thing?  According to The Word of God that is an evil thought.  Remember the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  The only reason why evil exist today is because of man(Adam) choosing to experience both good and evil instead of just choosing The Tree of Life.  Evil was never an option for man in God’s original plan and intent and it still is not.  God is ONLY good and that is the life He has given every believer.  This is why it is sin to think evil, failure, sickness, disease, poverty and lack.  As a believer we have no business even considering that as an option even if it shows up in our lives because it is not based in Love or Truth.  If sin or missing the mark shows up you are to say the opposite just like God did when He saw darkness. He never said one word about the darkness.  To speak contrary to The Word of God is sin and is evil and can cause you to miss out on what God the Father has already provided for you through Jesus Christ. The Word of God tells us to speak the truth in love.  Why? Because for the believer God(Love) has promised success and not just any success but the same success He has and even greater works than Jesus did when He was here on the Earth.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.  John 14:12 New Living Translation

God has promised through His blessing to bless all the work of your hands.  Also Jesus has forgiven and taken upon Himself ALL YOUR SIN(missing the mark or failure) so since He has done that the only thing left for you to believe is in SUCCESS.  He said in Romans 6:14 that, “Sin(missing the mark, failure) shall not have dominion over you because you are not under the law but under GRACE.”  Love thinketh no evil!  So that means Love only thinks good.  So when Love starts a business it goes into it knowing and believing, “This is so great! All I can do is succeed!!!  The Word of Love(God) guarantees it.”  You start a venture with that attitude I promise you and the word promises you it will be successful because you’ve started it in and on LOVE and LOVE NEVER FAILS!!!   Now someone will say, “Well I’m just looking at reality and being realistic.  Did you know the word TRUTH means reality. So the truth is the real reality and anything else exist as a lie.  So the failure is not the truth the failure is because TRUTH was not added as an ingredient in the cake of your business or venture and it didn’t hold together.  The Word of God says that LOVE NEVER FAILS and that LOVE THINKETH NO EVIL.  If you believe these two things and stand on them nothing will be impossible for you because now you are operating the same way God(Love) operates. And when you do things God’s (Love’s) way you get God’s(Love’s) results.  You are with Love and with Love(God) IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!!!

All the “blessed” to you!!!  Shalom
