JUST DA TRUTH – ABOUT RELYING COMPLETELY ON GRACE

Wherefore, having put out of the way once for all everything that would impede the free action of your mind, be calm and collected in spirit, and set your hope perfectly, wholly, and unchangeably, without doubt and despondency, upon the grace that is being brought to you upon the occasion of the revelation of Jesus Christ  I Peter 1:13 Kenneth Wuest Translation

How were you saved? By GRACE(Jesus)!!!  Why does God bless you?  Because of Grace(Jesus).  What covenant are you under as a New Testament believer, the covenant of Law or the covenant of Grace?  Grace(Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant).  We are in the dispensation of GRACE.  We are not in the dispensation of judgement.  Regardless of what any man or woman of God says about the time we are in being a time of judgement.  It is simply not true.  Don’t take my word for it, take THE WORD for it.  I know you know John 3:16 but do you know John 3:17.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. John 3:17 NIV

God is in the saving business, not the destruction, sending people to hell business.  As believers we must make sure that just like Jesus, Who is the Spirit of Grace, we are about our Father’s business.  But first we must know what Our Father’s business is.  The scripture says Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God the Father was with Him.  Grace is always looking to extend favor and to be favorable to people.  Grace contains loving kindness and tender mercies.  Grace always does a complete work that includes our total being and lives.

For by the grace have you been saved in time past completely(spirit, soul and body, through faith, with the result that your salvation persists through present time; and this [salvation] is not from you as a source ‘of God it is the gift, not from a source of works, in order that no one might boast  Ephesians 2:8 Kenneth Wuest Translation

Even our salvation is by the Grace of God, not by any work you can do or cannot do.  Grace is unmerited.  It is the plan of God through Christ Jesus to bring about a total and complete dependency on Him just like it was in the beginning in the Garden.  Adam and his wife before they sinned were created, provided for and cared for by God.  They lived by the grace and favor and sovereign will of God.  When the children of Israel came out of Egypt before the law or ten commandments were given, they lived under a covenant of grace.  Totally and completely provided for and protected by God the Father and His grace.  Today, we have a better covenant than they and Peter encourages us in The Word to completely and totally rely on the Grace of God that is being revealed to us through Christ Jesus.

In our opening and chief text Peter encourages us with some very distinct verbs.  He tells us to put our hope perfectly, wholly, and unchangeably, without doubt and despondency upon the Grace that is being brought to you upon the occasion of the revelation of Jesus Christ.  When we try to depend on ourselves and our own efforts we get over into self-righteousness.  Depending on our own obedience instead of Jesus’s perfect obedience will bring you back under the law and therefore will bring you back under the curse of the law.  Let’s look at what Paul said.

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law(the ten commandments and other laws in the Old Testament), you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. Galatians 5:4 New Living Translation

You must take the finished work of Christ as complete and total and rest for the REST of your life.  This is how you enter into His Rest. By resting completely in and on His Grace.  Jesus has already done the work.  Your job is to believe what He has done and take His work as your work.  The work of the believer is just that, TO BELIEVE!!!  His Grace has done the rest.

Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the One He has sent.” John 6:29 New Living Translation

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!
