And I walked and he who sat on the throne said to me, “Behold, I make all things new.” And he said to me, “Write: ‘These words are trustworthy and true.” 6And he said to me, “They are done. I am Alap and I am Tau, The Source and The Fulfillment. Revelation 21:5 & 6 Aramaic Bible in Plain English
Tense. In most cases when people think of the word tense they think of being anxious and stressed. Rarely do people consider the word tense in terms of time. But let’s take a look at the actual meaning of the word tense.
tense- a set of forms taken by a verb to indicate time (and sometimes also the continuance and completeness) of the action in relation to the time of the utterance.
I invite you to read that about 3-5 times then go back and read our opening scripture. “Well Brother Vincent what does this have to do with the Word of God and DA TRUTH?” I am so glad you asked. The answer is EVERYTHING! One of the reasons why the Body Of Christ is still dealing with and facing so many of the same issues and challenges that the world is is because of tense. They continue to put off and wait for things to happen or wait until we get to Heaven for things because they do not understand tense. Let’s look at what Jesus said in the verses preceding our opening first to get a better understanding.
And I heard a great voice from Heaven that said, “Behold, the Tabernacle of God is with the children of men, and he dwells with them and they shall be his people and the same God is with them and shall be their God. 4And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and from now on there shall not be death, neither grieving, nor clamor, neither shall there be disease again, for His sake.
And I walked and he who sat on the throne said to me, “Behold, I make all things new.” And he said to me, “Write: ‘These words are trustworthy and true.” 6And he said to me, “They are done. I am Alap and I am Tau, The Source and The Fulfillment. I shall give to the thirsty one from the fountain of the water of life without charge.” 7″And he who is victorious shall inherit these things, and I shall be his God and he will be my son.” Revelation 21:3-7 Aramaic Bible in Plain English
Let’s break this apart. Verse 3 says, “Look God’s home is NOW among His people!” Now means now. The next verse says He will live with them and they will be His people. God Himself will be with them. The Bible says Immanuel which is a Name of Jesus means, “God with us!”. If you are born again then Jesus is in you which means God is in you and with you. We are God’s people NOW!!!
Verse 4 says He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes and from NOW ON, there shall be no more death or shall not be death. Let’s stop there. Did you know that Jesus killed or destroyed death? Jesus’s resurrection is the death of death!!!
Now, in view of the fact that we died once for all with Christ, we believe that we shall also live by means of Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised up from among those who are dead, no longer dies. Death over Him no longer exercises lordship. For the death He died, He died with respect to our sinful nature once for all. But the life He lives, He lives with respect to God Romans 6:8-10 Kenneth Wuest Translation
Since death no longer exercises lordship over Jesus, death no longer exercises lordship over you because you belong to and are in Jesus!!! Jesus did not just give His Life for you He gave His Life TO YOU!!! And notice the word that begins the scripture above. There’s the word NOW again. Death and the devil can’t just come and take you out when he wants to or your children, IF you believe the Word and take it by faith as explained in the New Testament. Even in the Old Testament it says in Proverbs that death and life are in the power of the tongue. So people had control of death to a certain degree even back then. BUT NOW, death over Jesus and death over you no longer exercises lordship.
Paying attention to ‘tenses’ can be the difference between victory or defeat, from going under or over or even from death or life. Know what the Word says and know the tense being used when the Word says something to you. That tense is just as much a part of the Word as the other things being said there and in many cases is key to the receiving of a particular promise or benefit. We will continue with this next week.
All the blessed to you! Shalom!!!
