JUST DA TRUTH- ABOUT COMMUNION

And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.” Luke 22:19-20 New American Standard Version

I have said it once and it bears saying again.  God is the most purposeful being in the universe.  Everything He does has purpose, reason and GOOD in it.  He has declared that, “We are assured and know that [[a]God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.”  Romans 8:28 Amplified Bible.  Communion is a thing that God the Father has implemented through Jesus Christ.  It is important that you understand and make a distinction between the bread and the cup as they both have different purposes and functions.

Jesus’s body was broken for us.  The Book of Isaiah tells us the chastisement necessary for us to have peace or shalom(wholeness) was upon Him and with His stripes we are(were) healed.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  Isaiah 53:5 KJV

These are things that happened to Jesus’s body which is represented by the bread.  He said, ‘This is my body.”  When you use matzah which is Jewish bread, it has holes and burns and stripes on it which gives a clearer depiction.  We should always be mindful of the Lord’s body knowing that He Himself bore our sins, sickness and diseases and since He bore them, never be content or comfortable with allowing the slightest symptom to try to dwell or reign in your body.  That thing is trying to get you to bear something Jesus already bore and there are laws, spiritual laws against such things.  Even in the natural there is the law of double jeopardy which says a person cannot be tried or punished for the same crime twice.

Jesus already was tried and judged and punished with and for your sins, iniquities and transgressions.  Do not allow His sacrifice to go by in waste.  Declare, “I cannot be punished for any of the things Jesus was punished for and I cannot be punished with any of the things Jesus was punished with.”

In the same way the cup which represents Jesus’s precious and priceless Blood affords us all the benefits of the New Testament.  It paid for our redemption and the forgiveness of sins.  You should know without a doubt that the Blood of Jesus has covered all your sins, past, present and future.  Jesus said, ” This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.”  All the benefits, all the power, and all the glory of the New Testament is yours through Christ Jesus and His finished work.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.  Ephesians 1:7 New International Version

I love how the redemption is in accordance to the riches of God the Father’s grace. The Blood of Jesus also helps our conscience. It purges cleanses and purifies it.

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:14 KJV

But if within the sphere of the light we are habitually ordering our behavior as He himself is in the light, things in common and thus fellowship we [the believer and God] are having with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son keeps continually cleansing us from every sin.  I John 1:17 Kenneth Wuest Translation

In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people–an agreement confirmed with My blood. Do this to remember Me as often as you drink it.” I Corinthians 11:25  New Living Translation

So enjoy communion daily knowing the benefits and fellowship of it.  Jesus said when we do it, to do it in remembrance of Him.  When you take communion you are declaring, “THE LORD DIED FOR ME!!”

All the “blessed” to you!!! Shalom!

  1. I remember a while back when Hebrews 9:14 came out at me with Truth and meaning. It gave me something to trust and lean on when memories try to haunt me. And the understanding of the communion is so beautiful. We should take communion daily…it should be the shield of our minds, bodies, and souls. Creating a habit of doing it can be a joyful experience, especially for our spirit. Thank you for the reminder to make it a habit – not in a mindless, take-for-granted way, but to remember it every day.

    Blessings,
    Marianne
