….his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Psalms 91:4 King James Version

Truth.  For the last two days we have been focusing on the word shield but today I want to switch up and focus on the word truth.  The word truth in Psalm 91:4 is the Hebrew word emeth and it means firmness, faithfulness and truth.  This displays to us The Father’s character of never changing,  When someone is firm and never changing and faithful, it makes them very easy to trust.  Why?  Because for the most part you know what they will and won’t do.  This same firmness of character should be evident in us as well since we are children of God.  As we realize who we are more and more in Christ this characteristic will be in ever increasing manifestation.  But getting back to truth, I want to look at the word truth in the New Testament because this speaks more closely to how we should perceive truth today and how truth is a shield and a buckler.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.  John 1;17 New International Version

So yesterday we talked about this particular verse.  We highlighted the truth that GRACE and TRUTH are One.  So this makes Grace who is Jesus, a shield and a buckler.  But let’s look at the word truth in that verse.  The word truth in that verse is the Greek word aletheia.  Aletheia means truth, but not merely truth as spoken; truth of idea, reality, sincerity, truth in the moral sphere, divine truth revealed to man, straightforwardness.  In another definition it defines the word truth or aletheia as ‘final reality.”  This is eye opening because there are many thing that we see that exist today BUT they exist as a lie.  This means that they will be no where to be found when The Truth reigns.  Now we can say, “Yes it will be glorious in the Millenial Reign.”  That is true it will be.  But what are you going to do with the lies that exist that may be affecting your life or your family members life right now?  What lies you may ask?  Perhaps the lie of lack that maybe telling you that you only have $13.49 in the bank and that is all you HAVE.  Perhaps there has been a lingering pain or symptom in your body that is trying to get you to focus on it instead of THE TRUTH that by Jesus’s stripe YOU WERE HEALED!!!   You fill in the blank for yourself about what is going on in your life but know this: His Truth is your shield and your buckler.  Now remember the shield is a large shield that covers you entirely.  That means it covers your health, your wealth, your family, your dreams, your happiness and everything that pertains to life and godliness.  The buckler is a smaller shield that you can direct and block things that you see.

But what about the things you don’t see?  His Truth is your shield.  Remember in Genesis 15:1 what God told Abraham.

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1 King James Version

The word shield there is the Hebrew word magen. The root word of the word magen is the Hebrew word ganan. That word ganan means to cover, surround, defend and protect. Now that word shield or tsinnah in Psalms 91:4 means large shield. This large shield is one that covers the whole person or body. His truth is our shield that covers us, surrounds us, defends us and protects us.  So once again Poppa, God the Father can be trusted and you have to make a choice to trust and believe His Truth so that He and it can shield you.  You have to believe the truth that my God has supplied ALL your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.  You have to believe that He Himself (Jesus) bore our sins in His body on the tree so that we being dead to sins can live to righteousness.  Those words He spoke to Abram belong to you because of the redemptive work of Christ.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.  Galatian 3:13-14  King James Version

You are redeemed and that redemption is ETERNAL.  The Word of God says so.  That means it works and is available ALL THE TIME.  Make sure you are using it ALL THE TIME.  His Truth, His Final Reality, is your shield now and forever more.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!
