…..and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?  Esther 4:14  KJV

If you are a believer, have you ever taken the time to ask yourself, “What am I in the Kingdom for?”  It’s a question you should give some thought to.  Why?  Because your part in the Kingdom is crucial to someone’s life.  Think about this.  Do you have a favorite minister, or even artist or actor who you really like or who has affected you life in a positive way?  I do and two years ago I thought to myself, “Man I am so glad this particular minister obeyed God’s call on his life.  I began to think about all the wisdom, knowledge and grace I would not be aware of if this person was not fulfilling his call.  Then I moved beyond myself and said, “What about the other people that are in his church?”  That’s over 30,000 people alone.  Then I moved beyond that to the TV and worldwide audience this particular minister reaches.  Now we are into millions of people.

Think of that.  One person affecting millions of lives.  The same thing applies to you and what God the Father has designed for you to do.  You may think I cannot affect a lot of people’s lives.  The truth is you already are.  Every person you come across, every person you work with, talk to, say hi to and every member of your family is being affected by you everyday.  Are you conscious of the effect you have or can have on people by constantly reflecting JESUS?  Another truth is you have no idea how many people’s lives you affect everyday.  What you do for a job regardless of what it is affects and touches many people’s lives. Your coworkers, everyone who will touch the product you work on, the person you said hi to and gave them a smile at the grocery store.  A smile or a simple hi could be just what a person needed to overcome contemplating  suicide.

I heard this story once and it impacted me so much I never forgot it.  As a matter of fact it prompted me the other day to check on a lady I saw just two days ago outside of a gas station.    In the story, there was a man who made a decision to commit suicide and jump off the Golden Gate Bridge.  The man did not have a car and decided to walk to the bridge from where he was but he made another decision.  He said if anyone stopped him and asked him was he alright on the walk to the bridge, then he would not commit suicide.  From the story it appeared the man looked very distraught and depressed.  He stated that he walked past many people but no one stopped him once to ask was he okay.  Thankfully the man lived after he jumped and was able to share his story.

Again, it shows how much you can affect someone’s life just by a caring question.  So many people today are lonely even when surrounded by all their friends.  They keep these people around and actually know they have superficial relationships but many feel these fake friendships are all they have.  Our text scripture is about Esther a woman who was chosen to be queen in a heathen kingdom although she was a Jew and then was presented with an opportunity to do something that she could be killed for or become an intercession and savior for the Jewish people.

…..and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:14 KJV

Think about it, what if you just like Esther have been brought into the Kingdom for such a time as this? Don’t think quantity, think quality.  Even if you are here to affect just one persons life, that person is of great value to God the Father and Jesus, because He died for that person.  And if that is not enough to stir you think about the fact that that one person at another time could have been you.  What would you want someone to do for you?

All the “blessed” to you!!! Shalom!

“He Himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.” I Peter 2:24 New International Version

Shalom! There is a well known saying that says, “If you want something done right, then do it yourself.”   Today let’s get a real in-depth understanding of the difference between doing something yourself and sending someone to do it.  But we are not going to talk about you, we are going to talk about God the Father and Jesus.  Do you realize the difference between The Father sending an angel to die, save and redeem you versus sending Jesus?  Because of His Love, The Father did not leave so precious and important a task to an angel.  He sent His own Son, and thereby in essence He sent HIMSELF.

Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthian 5:18-19 New American Standard Version

So you can see by this scripture that it was really God the Father ‘Himself’ in Christ who was reconciling or bringing people back into right standing or righteousness with Himself all because He desired this and planned this in and out of Love.  This is pure GRACE given to men, unmerited, undeserved.  This is a stark contrast to the law or the ten commandments which was given by Moses.  God gave Moses the ten commandments and then Moses gave the commandments to the children of Israel, not the world.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:17 New International Version

Moses was the servant of God.  Jesus is the Son of God as are you.  Moses gave the children of Israel, not the world, the law.  God so loved  the world that He gave them His Son.  Moses gave the law. Jesus gave HIMSELF!!!  Moses taught them the law.  Jesus taught them about HIMSELF.

Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning HIMSELF. Luke 24:27  New Living Translation

When  you understand how truly personal your salvation, your protection, your provision, your life, your health and your well being is to God the Father and Jesus,  you will then understand the importance of why He did these things HIMSELF.  He did not trust it or leave it to anyone else.  When it came to Him making sure that you are righteous He did it HIMSELF to make sure it was done RIGHT.  Meditate on that.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!

I am sure the title makes you want to quote Gary Coleman from Different Strokes.  “Whatchu talkin’ bout Willis?  I know what you mean. But look at this scripture…..

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for He (God the Father) is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.  Luke 6:35 King James Version

Wow!!  God is kind to the unthankful and the evil.  The people that blaspheme His Name, say He does not exist, and think His Name is a compound word with damn.  God the Father is kind to them.  So how are we suppose to be with them?

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;  Ephesians 5:1 New American Standard Version

The Father does not want us to be like the world.  The world responds to people with the law based thinking and responses.  “You treat me bad, I’m gonna treat you bad.”  That is the law all day.   But look at The Father.  Now understand, for you The Father does not see your sin, or acting ugly because of Jesus’s Blood.  But for sinners He sees their ugliness and ungratefulness and evil and is still kind to them.  The word kind there is the greek word chréstos.  It means to be useful, pleasant, gentle and kind, one that furnishes what is suitable.  We have a great Father and a great God and a great Lord in Jesus Christ.  Jesus operated and functioned this way and because of it religious people called him a “friend of sinners” in the Bible.  May you have that same title and accusation for the glory of God and the increase of the Kingdom.  Not to go out and be like them but to be a light and win them to Christ.

The Word of God is constantly admonishing us to be good to others whether they are good or evil.  THIS IS GRACE.  God was good to us when we were only evil.  While we were yet sinners He loved us and sent His Son to die for us. When people treat us good it is very easy to be good and nice to them.  But it takes the love of Christ to be kind and loving and courteous to someone who has mistreated and dogged you.  But we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us.  Jesus would not tell us to do something and not give us the power, strength and will to do it.  I will share a rarely known scripture with you that when I found it I was like, “Who then can be saved?”  But I have kept it in my mind and heart for years and I am getting better and better at it especially since learning about GRACE.

Remind people to be submissive to [their] magistrates and authorities, to be obedient, to be prepared and willing to do any upright and honorable work,

To slander or abuse or speak evil of no one, to avoid being contentious, to be forbearing (yielding, gentle, and conciliatory), and to show unqualified courtesy toward everybody.                                      Titus 3:1-2 Amplified Bible

Man this is a tall order in the natural.  We live in a mostly critical, negative-minded world.  That scripture says to slander or abuse or speak evil of no one.  But the part that punched me in the kidneys was the last part.  To show unqualified courtesy toward everybody.  Yes you read it right, it said EVERYBODY!!!  Do you understand what this means?  This means that the person who does not qualify for courtesy is the person The Word says you are to show courtesy to.   Trying chewing on that this weekend.  The rude person that steps in front of you at the mall.  The car that cuts you off in traffic.  When your wife says something a little edgy, respond with courtesy.  I can tell you I just flunked that test recently. Thank God for His GRACE.

So your challenge this weekend is to be kind to the unthankful and the evil and to show unqualified courtesy to EVERYONE.  If you can do it great!! If you miss it, keep meditating that Word and get up and go for it again. Trust me, unthankful, evil and discourteous people are not going anywhere just yet so you will have plenty of opportunity.  So step up to the challenge! The key is let Christ do it through you.  His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

All the “blessed” to you!!!

The sayings of King Lemuel—an inspired utterance his mother taught him.

2 Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb!
Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!
3 Do not spend your strength[a] on women,
your vigor on those who ruin kings. Proverbs 31: 1-3 NIV

Yesterday we spent sometime establishing the truth that Proverbs 31 was written as a training and admonition to a son from his mother.  In times past many have believed and thought this scripture was primarily for women. But the first verse again establishes this as not true.  As people of God and especially as parents as a whole we must ensure that culture does not raise our children.  We must be wise and make sure that they are not looking at these so called celebrities as their guide and standard.  This is in no way meant to denigrate or condemn those people.  I enjoy many of them in performances and movies and pray for a lot of them personally as as assignment. However unless they are born again they are not ‘stars‘.  I know  what they mean as a student can be a standout or star performer but I always remember something the Lord told me long ago about celebrities. He said “Vincent, I promised Abraham that his Seed would be like the stars of heaven. The devil took that and perverted it.  The number one characteristic of a star is LIGHT!”  I really took that to heart when He told me that and never forgot it. Many not all of the people that are so called stars do not have any light. Some are filed with darkness and sadness and depressions and need the deliverance that only Christ can provide so that they can live he full and abundant life  He died for them to have.

In Proverbs 31 King Lemuel’s mother reminds him not to spend his strength on women or his vigor on things that ruin kings.  Solomon could have used this scripture himself as this very thing is what pulled his heart from God even though he was exceedingly wise. When we go after Godly qualities in relationships we will always win because The Father knows what is best for us.  The woman may look good but The Word says beauty is vain because it will not last so most of the qualities you see in Proverbs 31 stem from inner character and dignity, not the over sexualized falseness that is so prevalent today in men and women. I encourage you to let The Word be your guide in your dealings and especially your relationships.  A relationship can detour your life if it is not proper.  This book of wisdom holds many secrets for success for us if we will study it out and take heed.

All the blessed to you! Shalom!!!

3 Do not spend your strength[a] on women,
your vigor on those who ruin kings. Proverbs 31: 1-3 NIV

Have you ever seen those shirts about the Proverbs 31 woman?  You have probably heard many messages about the Proverbs 31 woman.  But here is something you may not know even though its right there in the first verse of the chapter.  Proverbs 31 was written by a mother to her son.  So although it can be used by women and has been for many years, its ultimate purpose is for mothers to teach their sons and instruct them in the type of woman they should be looking for when they are finding a  wife.

There are so many parables and instructions for daily living in the scripture it almost amazes one.  From parabolic instructions on the consumption of alcoholic beverages to the allegory of a man strength being like currency.  King Lemuel’s mother instructs him not to spend his strength on women or his vigor  on those who ruin kings.  Imagine if every mother taught their son that he was a king regardless of his economic condition or if a father is there in the home.  The main reason people especially urban or even suburban kids these days get off into all types of things is because they don’t know who they are and what they are worth.  Parents in many cases don’t teach them their value and the power of going the other way when culture is pulling them in its own negative current.  When that child is born NO ONE, has more influence in their lives and specifically the mother because she is the nurturer.

This scripture is chock full of all types of wisdom to ensure that a man will have a spouse who is a real help to him and that the woman has the respect of the man because her husband trust her.  Fathers and mothers should teach their sons to respect themselves first then they will respect others.  Respect tends to have love built in because once a person has it for themselves they tend to treat others the same way.  Love your neighbor as yourself.  The other thing that is interesting is that the latter part of Proverbs 31 list characteristics of a woman that the church in some cases and society have tried to only relegate to men.  This woman is industrious and prosperous however with wisdom and not to the neglect of her current duties.  So this proves that women can do other things besides being a homemaker, cook and such because when they operate in Godly wisdom, the time they save allows them to do things without causing detriment to their most crucial roles and responsibilities to their husband and children.  We will pick this up tomorrow but I encourage women and men, fathers and mothers especially to put a fresh set of eyes on this chapter.  There is treasure to be mined there.

Buy truth (and do not sell it), [that is,] buy wisdom, discipline, and understanding.  Proverbs 23:23 God’s Word Translation

In this world there are a lot of things that you can buy,… if you have the money.  There are cars, mansions, diamonds, yachts and many other things you can buy. It’s interesting that the Bible instructs us in Proverbs to buy truth.  How does one buy truth?

My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Proverbs 4:20 NIV

Notice how the scripture above says “pay” attention?  Your attention is valuable.  Your attention is priceless. Whatever you are paying attention to good or bad it is costing you something.  Pay attention to negative reports from a doctor, it could cost you your health and ultimately your life.  Pay attention to all the death and destruction in the world and it will cost you your peace of mind.  The Lord tells us what to pay attention to: His Word!!!  In our text he tells us to buy the truth and He means The Truth of the Gospel which and Who is Jesus. You cannot pay money for Jesus because He is priceless but Jesus values your attention and He will accept it as payment to reveal to you His Truth.  Do you know that you have God the Father’s and Jesus’s FULL ATTENTION at any given time of the day? They pay attention to you and you should pay attention to Them.  There are ways you can actually buy The Truth.  When you buy a Bible you are buying The Truth.  When you buy a CD or DVD or download of a minister who is preaching Jesus you are buying the Truth.

But what is the Truth composed of and what are the ingredients?  They are listed in the same scripture.  They are wisdom, instruction and understanding.  Now notice I called them ingredients.  Just like a cake has certain ingredients so does The Truth.  If you take the eggs and butter out of a cake it will not be moist or rise. Same is true with The Truth. You need Wisdom, Instruction and Understanding.  If one ingredient is missing something will be lacking in your faith life.  Jesus came that you might have life and have it in superabundance according to John 10:10.   He wants you to have a FULL LIFE not a life missing ingredients.  I hear so many Christian saying and singing, “I just want a little more Jesus or more Jesus.”  Me, I am greedy I receive ALL OF JESUS!!! Why? Because that is why the Father sent Him and that is what He died for me to have. ALL OF HIM!!!!  He paid the price so I receive the benefits.  Now at your job you may have to pay for the benefit of health insurance. But God’s plan is he paid for and provided.  The payment of your attention is valuable to Jesus so give it to Him, He gave His Life not just for you but to you!!!  So buy the truth and don’t sell it.  You will be glad you did.

All the ‘blessed’ to you! Shalom!!!

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.  2 Corinthians 4:18 New International Version

If  you ever had a “symptom” of something, I want you to pay close attention to your mind when it happens.  Does your mind immediately go to “By Jesus stripe, I were healed!” or do you ask, “Oh man, I wonder what this is?”   The truth is it does not matter what it is.  If it is a thought or a reasoning or something that is trying to exalt itself against the knowledge of God that is really all you need to know.  Just understand that if you are a believer and a symptom of any kind shows up, whether it be in your physical body, your finances or your marriage the purpose of that thing is to lie to you and get you to agree with what you are feeling or even seeing instead of what The Word says about it.

The Word of God says in I Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wound you have been healed.”  If a cold or cold symptom show up, understand that’s a lie and it is vying for your agreement.  It’s trying to see if by chance you will accept it.  As a matter of fact and truth the word symptom means a sign of the existence of something  especially something undesirable.  The actual origin of the word symptom is the Greek word sumptoma which means chance.  But Jesus has not left the health of your body to ‘chance’.  He already secured your perfect health with every whiplash and beating he took before going to the cross.  As a matter of truth, the Kenneth Wuest Translation of the New Testament translates every word and its meaning directly from the Greek so that you can get a vivid picture of what happened.

“Who Himself carried up to the Cross our sins in His body and offered Himself there as on an altar, doing this in order that we, having died with respect to our sins, might live with respect to righteousness, by means of whose bleeding stripe [the word “stripe” is in the singular here; a picture of our Lord’s back after the scourging, one mass of raw, quivering flesh with no skin remaining, trickling with blood] you were healed.” I Peter 2:24 Kenneth Wuest Translation.

I want you to notice it did not say, ‘By doing everything you’re suppose to do, you were healed’  It does not say, ‘By keeping all the commandments you were healed’.  Am I against keeping the commandments?  No but you need to know as a New Testament believer, you are not under the law but under Grace.  That does not mean you just go live any kind of way.  Once the Grace of God is a revelation to you, you will only love Jesus more because HE IS GRACE!  GRACE is not a thing it’s a Person and that Person is JESUS!!!  The One who took the beatings, the spitting, the sickness, the disease, the lack for you.  For you it is free but for God the Father it is very costly as it cost Him His Son.

So see it this way, when a symptom tries to see if you will take a chance and accept it remember that SomeOne paid more than untold trillions of dollars for you to NEVER be sick another day in your life.  Do not let the enemy play you like a slot machine and pull the handle of your mind and God’s wheels come up with BLESSING and FAVOR and the enemy calls out SICKNESS and DISEASE and then sits back to see if you will accept it.  Since I am using this analogy I will just continue and please, I am not condoning or promoting gambling but, God has already designed The Way for you to roll sevens, every time all the time.  With the enemy you will simply be shooting craps.  Jesus never left you to be a victim to symptoms or to chance. His Way is sure each and every time.  He wants you to know that no matter what the world throws at you, you already have the victory because of what He has already done.  And that my friend is confidence not chance.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 New International Version

All the ‘blessed’ to you! Shalom!

Now may the Lord of shalom Himself give you (His) shalom always, in all ways. The Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 Complete Jewish Bible

One of my favorite words is the word SHALOM.  It is a great word and it reminds me of God the Father because although it is one word, it means many things and they are all GOOD just like God the Father.  According to Strong’s Concordance 7965 Shalom means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom comes from the root verb shalom meaning to be complete, perfect and full.  Now think about this?  If you had to live life and all you had was Jesus and Shalom, do you think you could be content and happy and at total peace?  I can. I mean look at the meaning….EVERYTHING is there.

This is how Jesus lived while here on the Earth. He lived in complete wholeness and complete health. You cannot find one scripture in the BIble where Jesus was sick one day (until He bore our diseases on the Cross).  Jesus was never in lack.  He lived in complete prosperity and abundance at all times.  Jesus lived in freedom from agitation or discord.  Even when people were trying to kill him, Jesus was just as calm and composed, staying in the Love of God as if he was walking through a flower garden. How did He do this?  SHALOM.  Shalom is a great and powerful blessing from Jesus that just like His Name is given to us. Look at what Jesus said.

“What I am leaving with you is shalom — I am giving you My shalom. I don’t give the way the world gives. Don’t let yourselves be upset or frightened.”  John 14:27 Complete Jewish Bible

That word ‘leaving’ there means to send away.  Jesus sent shalom away from Himself and then gave (which means to offer) His very own Shalom to us.  He sent His Shalom away because He did not need it where He was going.  In Heaven there is no sickness so you don’t need healing.  There is no lack or poverty there so you don’t need prosperity in Heaven.  There is no danger in Heaven so there is no need for safety.  However here on Earth, there is sickness, danger and lack that exist as a lie.  But through Christ, Shalom exist as the truth for those who believe and receive His Shalom.  So in our opening text Paul prayed a prayer that Jesus had already answered,….by leaving and giving us His Shalom. Paul also called Him Who He is, The Lord of Shalom.  It’s not a lesser version or quality of Shalom than what Jesus had.  It is the exact same Shalom that Jesus had.  His very own personal Shalom. And it is yours for the taking.  The word receive is the greek word lambano and it means to take.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!!  Shalom!

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  I John 4:10 KJV

There’s a popular song out that was just rereleased in the world by the group called the Black Eyed Peas entitled, “Where is the  Love?”.  I believe that question deserves an answer, especially since the answer is right there sitting in the Word of God and if you are a believer the answer is right there IN YOU!!!

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:5 NIV

The world in many cases is looking for love.  Some are consciously looking for Love. some unconsciously.  Why?  Because its kind of like a fish. If a fish accidentally hops out of water it will do it’s best to get back to it.  Why? Because that is its natural habitat.  That is where it is comfortable and moves with ease.  People were not created by the devil.  All people were created by God, by Love!  And when they function in Love they to be more healthy, happy and whole.  Why? Because that is Who God is.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. I John 4:16 English Standard Version

God is Love!  As believers we must keep that as a key in our minds and hearts. As Christians we are pictures, images and reflections of Christ to the world much like the moon reflects the Sun.  We are moons reflecting The Son!!!!  Our behavior and attitude and responses towards people in our very own homes and in the world should be reflective of The Son!!!   If every believer keeps this in mind wherever they go and in all that they do, I believe less and less people will be asking, “Where is the Love? and instead start saying, “There is the Love!!”.  And when they see and are impacted by the Love of God in you through Christ Jesus, that is your opportunity to point them to all the warmth of The Son and give them the gift of real Love:  JESUS!!!

All the blessed to you!! Shalom!

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14 King James Version

Do you realize that sin has no dominion over, if you are under GRACE and not the law? Sin has no dominion over the believer who is under GRACE(Who is Jesus) and knows it. That means sickness, disease, debt, lack and any other thing that God declares is not right. The word sin is the greek word harmartia and it means to miss the mark. What is God’s mark for your health? Divine health! What is God’s mark for your prosperity and abundance? Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.” You having more than enough is God’s mark for you. It is very important today more than ever that believers KNOW what the scripture says and means. Sin is mentioned 48 times in the New Testament but did you know 47 times it is a noun. A noun is a person, place or thing. It is not a verb therefore it does not mean sinful acts or actions. It means the devil, the person of sin, places of sin and the things of sin do not have authority over you because you are no longer under the law but under GRACE.

Now the question is are you under GRACE? Do you believe Jesus took your place and covered your sin past, present and future? Or are you still trying to be righteous and be holy by not smoking, drinking, sleeping around and all the other so called big sins that many in the church focus on? Now let me make clear I am against sin as is God the Father and Jesus so this is no so called license to sin however if you are depending on your own actions of what you do or don’t to make you righteous or have a right standing with God I have some bad news for you.  You are under the law and sin does have dominion over you. When you try to live by the law,”I don’t do this, I don’t do that”, you are a debtor to do the whole law. What that means is, yes you may not sleep around but you gossip. If you gossip you are guilty of sleeping around as well because Jesus said if you break one law you are guilty of all of it. That means you are a murderer, a thief, an idolater and all the other things that the law describes. This is why depending on anything other than the Blood of Jesus and finished work of Christ for your righteousness and holiness is foolishness. Don’t take my word for it take The Word for it.

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. Galatians 5:4 New Living Translation

Don’t try to live by the law and what you do or don’t do. The Word already has proven everyone who has tried to do it with the exception of Jesus has failed and failed miserably. Stay under GRACE Who is Jesus!!! Jesus loves you and He’s already done the work of righteousness. All there is for you to do is to believe it and receive it.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!
