And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 King James Version
Yesterday we got into somethings that The Holy Spirit desired to highlight. One was dominion and the other was ownership. Although we started on dominion yesterday we focused on ownership and today we are going to focus again on dominion. The two are really two sides of the same coin only with different faces if you will. The word dominion there in Genesis comes from the Hebrew word radah which means reign. When a king has dominion or reigns over a certain territory or land, that means he has power and authority there. It also means regardless of who owns the land or currently lives on it by his authority and office he can take ownership of the land. As The Word declares the Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness there of, the world and they that dwell in it. This is still true today however God gave mankind a 6000 year lease on the Earth to rule and reign in and on it. Man has authority and dominion here. This is one of the reasons Jesus had to be born as a man. If He had simply come here as God then satan could have called Him out about it and declared He was not righteous because He broke His Word about giving man dominion for that time period. Our Father is RIGHTEOUS. He does not have to stoop to the devil’s lying ways to get the victory because He is victory. He obtained the ultimate victory over the devil through the finished work of Jesus Christ and Jesus in turn turned around and gave that victory to us.
How did Jesus multiply the loaves? DOMINION! How did Jesus walk on water? DOMINION! How did Jesus do all the things He did before even dying on the Cross and being born again. By the power of the Holy Spirit and DOMINION! You really have to grasp the bigness of what Jesus did and how He did it. He used the same dominion that God has given to every man and woman on the Earth in Genesis 1:26. God never changed His mind or His Word. The only difference between Jesus and you is that He knew He had dominion and believed it and He found out about it the same way you and I can, by reading and studying The Word. Yes he studied The Word just like you and I are supposed to do each day. What do you think Jesus was doing for those 30 years before he started His ministry? He was spending time with His Father and studying The Word. Since He is The Word, you could say He spent 30 years learning about Himself and about what He could do. Spending time in and with The Word is how you learn about yourself and what you can do through Christ who once again, is The Word. Did you know that Jesus was not the first person to multiply food?
42One day a man from Baal-shalishah brought the man of God a sack of fresh grain and twenty loaves of barley bread made from the first grain of his harvest. Elisha said, “Give it to the people so they can eat.”
43“What?” his servant exclaimed. “Feed a hundred people with only this?”
But Elisha repeated, “Give it to the people so they can eat, for this is what the LORD says: Everyone will eat, and there will even be some left over!” 44And when they gave it to the people, there was plenty for all and some left over, just as the LORD had promised. 2 Kings 4:42-44 New Living Translation
Jesus read that and knew that. It was in the old scrolls they had in the Temple. Elisha did not pray, he just said, “Give it to the people so they can eat”. Now he said “thus saith the Lord ” later but he just used his dominion same as Jesus. Elisha simply believed what He heard God say and acted on that. God already gave man the permission and command to subdue the Earth in Genesis. Bread is in the Earth and comes from the Earth. Water is in the Earth. Jesus used His God given dominion as a man to walk on the water. How? By simply believing what His Father said in Genesis 1:26. Well Brother Vincent you’re just acting like anything we see in the Bible is possible!!” I’m glad you said that. You’re thinking about if you can walk on water instead of believing you can walk on water. That is human reasoning. 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells you what to do with that so I’m not going to take up time and space here with that. Lets see what Jesus said about “if you can”.
21Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22“It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23“ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Mark 9:21-13 NIV
Now do you know who is ‘the one who believes”? Our faith waivers sometime and we get to thinking about this and considering that. But not Jesus!! JESUS ALWAYS BELIEVES!!! So guess what, your only job is to know what’s yours and then believe in the One who believes all the time. This is your only job. I didn’t say that Jesus did. Check this out.
Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29 New Living Translation
Jesus has already given you EVERYTHING HE HAS!! There is no more to give. There is only more for you to receive. The Father gave you dominion and He gave you Jesus. That’s all you need. Get to receiving NOW!!!
All the “blessed” to you!!! Shalom!
