JUST DA TRUTH -ABOUT WALKING ‘ON’ PROBLEMS Part 1

But in the fourth watch of the night, Yeshua came unto them while he was walking on the water. Matthew 14:25 Aramaic Bible in Plain English

Imagine being in a boat on the lake and all of a sudden a massive storm appears. The boat is being stirred in directions you don’t want it to go and the water is coming into the boat and potentially it seems your life is in danger as the water in and out of the boat is causing you problems.  Now imagine seeing someone else out walking calmly on top of the very water that is giving you so much trouble.  This is exactly the situation the disciples faced. They were already panicked  about the boat and water but then they SEE something that is even more unnatural and concerning.  A short ways from the boat they see what appears to be a ghost or spirit walking on the water.  They did not think it was a person because “people do not normally walk on water”.

Turns out however that it was a person.  The Person of our Lord and Saviour Jesus!!!  Let’s see what Jesus says to his disciples(and YOU) regarding this apparently pressing situation.

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.  Matthew 14:26-27 KJV

So lets examine what is going on piece by piece.

  1. The 4th watch of the night is the darkest time of night, right before dawn. Jesus was there in what seemed to be their darkest time  even though they did not recognize Him.
  2. What seemed to be giving the disciples trouble, Jesus was waking ON.

The word on in our opening text is the Greek word epi  and  it means the superimposition of time, place, matter and order as a relation to distribution.  When something is superimposed it means to place or lay something over another although both are still evident however one is on top and the other is under the other.  Jesus is always on top of any and every situation you face.  Ask yourself when a situation arises are you looking for Jesus Who is on the top of every situation or at the trouble on the bottom?

Know this: Because of Jesus’s FINISHED WORK, Jesus HAS WALKED ON every problem that will ever try to arise  in your life.  Your job is to keep your eyes on Him, not the issue so you can walk on the problem (water) with Jesus to dry land. We will pick this up again tomorrow Stay tuned it’s going to be good.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!! Shalom!!!
