Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. Hebrews 4:1 King James Version

Yesterday we started our post about His Rest.  We found out somethings about rest and finished works.  I believe by the Word of God that one of the main keys to His Rest is believing that all the work is finished.  Lets look at this scripture once more.

We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all His work.” Hebrews 4:4 New Living Translation

Let’s take a look also at the original text in Genesis chapter 2.

1So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. 2On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. 3And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation. Genesis 2:1-3 New Living Translation

There are some distinct things that we need to look at and break apart in this verse of scripture.  Verse 1 says that the creation of the heavens and earth and everything in them WAS COMPLETED.  This means the satellites that were to come later on and hang in the heavens were at that time completed.  The cars, and planes that man would once day produce from THE SOURCE material and WISDOM that God provided were completed.  God foresaw all these things and He is the One that gave man the wisdom and ability to produce them.  Notice I did not say create.  Man is a producer not a creator. He has creative ability just like God His Father, but only thru what God the Creator has already provided him.  A producer in a film takes a screenplay and them produces a film.   God is the Creator.  He had already written the screenplay and man took it and in some cases tried to do a few rewrites but regardless of man or the devil everything, all things work together for good for us as believers.  The scriptures are the screenplay.  There is nothing that has taken place on Earth that our Father did not know about.  Poppa is the Creator. Man is the Producer.

All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3  KJV

The word all in the Bible is a very interesting word and you should know what it means exactly in Hebrew.  All is the Hebrew word kol.  It means, all or the whole.  So when God says He finished His work and rested from all His work that means He rested from the whole thing.  You look later and you see that Jesus says something similar.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest Me to do. John 17:4 King James Version

Did you notice how Genesis says God rested from ‘His work”?  The work of creation was specific to God the Father.  The work of redemption was specific to God the Son. God finished His work and Jesus finished His work.  And today we have God the Holy Spirit manifesting the finished work of The Father and Jesus thru us but it is ultimately The Father’s finished work. This is not to say that all of them were not involved in creation and redemption because they all were.  Jesus as The Word was deeply involved in creation as was the Spirit Who was hovering over the face of the deep.  It simply shows there was a specificity for Each.  Stay tuned tomorrow for more.

All the blessed to you!!! Shalom!

  1. LOL…I was just thinking about the previous comment I sent to you about all my creating…an artistic term as you know. Okay, so I’m telling God how much I love “producing” from my home, etc. Interesting distinction. I feel that when God truly employs me in the work of my joy on a full time basis, I will have entered into His rest.
