Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. Hebrews 4:1 King James Version
Rest is great. His rest is greater. God the Father wants us to enter into His Rest. The best way to enter into this rest is to know that just as He rested from all His works, you can now rest from works as well because of the Grace Who is ours in the Person of Jesus. When Jesus was on the Cross and He cried, “It is finished!”, he meant it. The days of trying to please God by doing this and doing that and not doing this and not touching that are over. If you think that your works are going to get you points with God you are not in rest you are in works. Your own works. Rest means accepting totally and completely what Jesus did for you. Lets pick up where we left off yesterday.
1So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. 2O the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. 3And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation. Genesis 2:1-3 New Living Translation
We see here that on the seventh day God the Father rested from all His work. If you are familiar with the Bible you will probably be familiar with this scripture.
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 2 Peter 3:8 New Living Translation
When we understand this verse, it provides even greater revelation of how and why we are to enter into His Rest. It has been approximately over six thousand years since Adam. We are right at the cusp in the natural ‘time wise’ where we are butting right up against the seven thousandth year. So if a day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day, you can see that God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy because it was the day when He rested from all His work. So based on our main text scripture, God is telling us to enter to His Rest now and to fear not doing so. Why? Because for the believer this is the seventh day. But Jesus is not back yet? How do we do this? You do it by faith!! You mix what the Father said with faith and say, “Father I enter into your Rest right here and right now!!!.” I am there!! I am at rest. The just shall live by faith not time!!! Don’t ever forget that!!! God the Father and Jesus are not bound by time and so neither are you. When you come to Jesus by accepting Him as Lord and Saviour He has said He will give you rest.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 New Living Translation
Is Jesus going to give you a different rest than The Father already said He would give. Of course not. Jesus is the way into His Rest. If you study it out the true meaning of what Jesus said is, ‘If you come to me, I will rest you!.” God is not bound by time. He does not have to wait until a certain time of day or month or year comes. He lives in eternity! He is in 1800. He is in 2016 and He is in 2026, or 2036 or 2300 RIGHT NOW. On the Jewish calendar right now we are in the year 5776? Interesting isn’t it? When you know that you are a son of God with full rights and benefits to Iive and function with the same power and authority as Jesus, you can live in the six thousandth year as if it was the seventh thousandth year and rest. Why? Because you have permission to do so from The Word and from God the Father Himself. He is the One Who told you to do it and that is why you can do it. Don’t doubt like the children of Israel when leaving Egypt for Canaan. God brought them out and made them rich over night. Yet you have so many preachers teaching people, “Its not going to happen overnight.” It did for the children of Israel!!! And we have a better covenant. Again God is not bound by time, He overrides time. Jesus did this constantly while He was here on Earth reducing 30 years of natural time into a moment to make the best wine for the wedding in John chapter 2. He also healed Peter’s mother in law and reduced hours or days or weeks of recovery time into a moment where she is instantly healed and gets up and begins to serve guest. Jesus promised if we BELIEVE on and in Him, that GREATER WORKS than these will we do because He goes to the Father.
That’s a lot to chew on, so we will end there. Stay with us all week and take your stand and enter into His Rest today.
All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!
