And he blessed and he broke and he said, “Take eat; this is my body, which is broken for your persons; thus you shall do for my Memorial.                                                                        I Corinthians 11:24  Aramaic Bible in Plain English

Many of you may be familiar with this scripture but I want to share something new and fresh about it that you may know but I just learned a few weeks ago while studying.  One of the great aspects of The Word of God is that it is eternally pregnant and for us birthing greater and greater revelations by way of the Holy Spirit as we spend time in The Word. So as we in the USA celebrate Memorial’s Day and the men and women who have died while serving this great country of ours, we as believers should also allow our minds to turn toward the Ultimate Soilder the Lord Jesus Christ who died not only for a country, but for the entire world past, present and future.  The Father gave up His Son and Jesus came willingly to die for all.

The above scripture references Communion and Jesus gave instructions that we are to take and eat for this is His Body. In a later verse he gives a similar instruction about the cup which is His Blood in the New Testament. The part I want us to focus on is “thus you shall do for my Memorial.  The King James Version speaks of doing this in remembrance of Me(Jesus).  The word remembrance in that verse is a very interesting word with a more interesting meaning.  Let’s take a look at it.

The word remembrance in that verse means:

anamnésis: remembrance

Original Word: ἀνάμνησις, εως, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: anamnésis
Phonetic Spelling: (an-am’-nay-sis)
Definition: a recalling, remembrance, memory.

anámnēsis (from 363 /anamimnḗskō, “bring to mind”) – properly, deliberate recollection, done to better appreciate the effects (intended results) of what happened; active, self-prompted recollection especially as a memorial (memorial sacrifice.

The word also has connotations of recollection.  But pay special attention to this part:
deliberate recollection, done to better appreciate the effects (intended results) of what happened; active, self-prompted recollection especially as a memorial.
Many times believers only engage communion at church or when it is administered by a pastor or minister. I encourage you, Christ has made you a king and a priest under Him the King of Kings and Himself The High Priest so take it upon yourself to take Communion yourself.  The next verse of the above scripture reads.
So after they had dined, he also gave the cup, and he said, “This cup is The New Covenant in my blood. You shall be so doing every time that you drink for my Memorial.”  I Corinthian 11:25 Aramaic Bible in Plain English
So we are encouraged and admonished by Jesus to take communion often as a Memorial to and for Jesus to better appreciate the benefits or intended results of what happened to our Lord Jesus on the Cross and what has happened to and for us as a result of His Life, death, burial and resurrection.  The bread represents His Body which was beaten, pierced, spat upon, slapped pressed and stressed to the point of death. The book of Peter also tells us that Jesus Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree(or Cross) so that we being dead to sin should live to righteousness.  Look at what this means.
Believers because of Jesus’s finished work are:
  • Dead to sin (Not to sinful actions but to sin’s ability to dominate us and bring sickness and disease upon because the  law of the Spirit that of the LIFE which is in Christ Jesus HAS made us FREE from the law of sin and death. Everything that has to do with sin and death we are free from this includes the curse, poverty, sickness, lack, and anything else that came as a result of the fall. WE ARE REDEEMED!  We have redemption thru His Blood.)
  • Dead to the law because Jesus is the end of the law for all who believe.

We are cleansed and HAVE redemption thru His Blood. The Blood is on the mercy seat in Heaven and God no longer sees our sin but sees His sinless Son Who has borne all of our sins past, present and future and that Blood keeps on cleansing us from all unrighteousness.  Jesus’s Blood is eternal and that means it operates outside of time, inside of time and beyond time.

I John 1:9 states that Jesus Blood cleanses us from every unrighteousness.  Psalms 103:2 tells us to allow our souls to bless and praise the Lord and that one of the ways we do this  is by remembering or not forgetting  ALL His benefits.  So MEMORIAL DAY is everyday for the believer not just one day a year.  Be sure to take sometime today and everyday what Jesus’s perfect and ultimate sacrifice has done for you.  This will keep you mindful and beat off and away from you discouragement.

All the ‘blessed’ to you. Shalom!!!

…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. John 10:10 King James Version

When you think of the abundant life, what do you think of.  Do you think of just Heaven and how all will be well when you get there?  You many be shocked to find out that Jesus was not just talking about life in the sweet by and by but the right here and now.  The word life there in that scripture is the greek word zoe and it means spiritual and physical life.  It covers the life you have now and the life to come.  Jesus has covered it ALL.  But even greater than that is what He said after that.  He said that He has come that we might have life and have it more abundantly.  I like the Kenneth Wuest Translation.

…I alone came in order that they might be possessing life, and that they might be possessing it in superabundance.  John 10:10 Kenneth Wuest Translation

SUPER ABUNDANCE!!!! Abundance on steroids.  This is what Jesus has come for us to have, to possess.  Jesus did not come so you can have just enough and barely make it, NO!!!!  The word abundantly in that verse is the greek work  perissós.  It is actually two words the first being  the word  perí, meaning  “all-around, the second meaning excess”).  The Strongs dictionary goes on to define abundantly as – properly all-around, “more than” (“abundantly”); beyond what is anticipated, exceeding expectation; “more abundant,” going past the expected limit (“more than enough . . . “).  This is what Jesus came for you and I to HAVE.  The word have in that verse is the Greek word echo and it means to have, hold and possess.  Not dream about it and pray about it and not see it.  When you think of the price God the Father paid by giving up HIs Son and what Jesus had to go thru to secure that for us, make sure that you do not neglect to HAVE that abundant life.  It’s yours and it’s paid for by Jesus.  Don’t try to qualify for it because YOU CAN’T!!!  Simply receive it by GRACE thru FAITH remembering it’s YOUR Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom!!!!

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV

Our scripture is quite fitting for today’s post as we are going to talk about creatures today, some new, some old and some imaginary.  If you are a Marvel fan, or comic book fan you may be aware of the group of heroes to some, misfits to others called The Guardians of  the Galaxy.  The second Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie came out this weekend and was actually really good.  One of the team members is a creature called GROOT who looks like a walking tree.  There is a  popular commercial that has crash car dummies in it and at the end of the commercial it says, “You can learn a lot from a dummy!”.  Well while studying  I came to the realization that believers can  learn a lot from GROOT.  I won’t get into specifics about the character but I want to focus on one interesting characteristic of Groot that if believers could pick it up their lives would immediately become more fruitful, successful and fulfilled.

For those familiar with the Groot character you know that whenever Groot speaks, he only says the same 3 words regardless of what the situation is.  If you got your faith antennas up you probably see where I am going.  If the situation is terrible and dangerous for the Guardian team, Groot’s answer is, “I AM GROOT!!!”  If it looks like they are right at the point of being wiped out, Groot’s answer is still,  “I AM GROOT!!!”  No matter what happens if Groot says anything it is the same thing, every time, all the time.  Wow what a wonderful trait to have if you know what to say in any given situation.  Our base scripture says, “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  What if anytime and every time a situation came up the believer acknowledged and said, “I AM IN CHRIST!!!”  It could be an apparent good situation or an apparent negative situation. No matter what that believer says, “I AM IN CHRIST!!!” with the knowledge that in Christ they have already won.  Saying it with the revelation that Christ cannot be defeated and I am in Christ so I cannot be defeated.  The scripture actually tells us to do this.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised; Hebrews 10:23 KJV

Groot holds fast to his profession of ‘who he is” without wavering.  He does not guess what he is going to say. He knows what he is going to say and so do other people. He is going to say “I AM GROOT!!!”

We should be a people who know who we are and what we are and we should confess who we are in CHRIST without wavering.  Things like:

These things should be commonplace for us as believer and we should be known for confessing the Word of God in any situation.  Not as a religious parakeet but because we actually believe it because a BELIEVER is Who we really are.

I will say it again, “You can learn a lot from Groot!”

All the blessed to you! Shalom!!!

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:17 KJV

We talked yesterday about the knowledge of good and evil and how God the Father’s instruction was not to eat from it.  If you know anything about the Father it should be He does not change and this is why He can be depended upon and trusted. So since He does not change it is accurate today to say that He STILL does not desire His children to eat or partake from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The thing is many times this is done unintentionally by well meaning believers and preachers.  Sometimes they do this because its what they were taught by the men of women of God in their lives and error begets error if not corrected.  But we are not required to listen to or walk in error or man’s opinion.  We are instructed and expected to walk in The Gospel the Good News because we are not Old Testament saints, we are New Testament believers.

I want to make something very clear here about being a believer.   Being a believer does not just mean you believe. It means KNOWING that that is WHO  and WHAT YOU ARE!!!  You are a believer.  Believing is actually your full-time job. Whatever you do for work is a part time job at best but your full-time job is being WHO and WHAT you are A BELIEVER or as the Word of God sometimes puts it in accurate translations your are a BELIEVING ONE.

So that those who are believing ones are being blessed in company with believing Abraham. Genesis 3:9 Kenneth Wuest Translation

Abraham was and is a ‘believing one’ and since the Bible calls Abraham  the father of our faith that makes us a believing one as well thru Christ Jesus.  I want to share a truth that Lord recently showed me. I noticed that in many cases when some preachers bring up the good that God has done for you based on the Word of God they will partner it with evil.  Keep in mind in 99% of the cases this is not intentional, it just how people teach and tend to talk.  Here’s an example:  “When the doctor gives you a bad report, look to the Word.  You get in trouble, look to the Word.”   Do you see how the teaching puts in a person’s mind that evil should trigger a response with the Word?   There seems to be a tying in of The Word which is good with evil: a disease, or a problem.  This should not be. The Bible says the just shall live by faith and that we are to live with a confident expectation of good.  Even deeper we are suppose to choose LIFE and be LIFE focused not problem or death or evil focused.

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;  Deuteronomy 30:15 KJV

The Word says we have a choice then later it tells you to choose LIFE.  We have to get out of this mindset of expecting evil too in this life when Psalms 23 says, “Surely(or ONLY) goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”  If the Word says it we can have it.

The desire of the righteous is only good:  Proverbs 11:23 KJV

…but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. Proverbs 10:24 KJV

We must come to a place of seeing a life of only good and peace and prosperity.  There are people in the Old Covenant that experienced this and we have a better covenant than they do.  Look at what the Lord gave to Solomon and Jabez and they were not even born again.

But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. I Kings 5:4 KJV

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. I Chronicles 4:10 KJV

You cannot tell me we cannot live a life of Heaven on Earth when I see it in the Word.  To settle for anything less is to partially waste Jesus”s precious sacrifice and God the Fathers precious gift.  Determine to HAVE LIFE and have it in SUPER ABUNDANCE!! This is what Jesus said He came to give.

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV

All the blessed to you! Shalom!!!
