Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:  Psalms 103:2 KJV

Yesterday we talked about the various benefits that the believer has as a result of the finished work of Christ.  We also talked about the Lord’s instruction to us to make sure we don’t forget those benefits.  We ended with a very powerful scripture from the book of  Romans.

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 New International Version

In this verse it seems as if a question is being asked and it is but the answer is also being given with the question. If you are a believer, you have been given and received Jesus and with Him, you have received all things.  All things is just what it says all things.  Lets call to mind this scripture as well.

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.  Ephesians 1:22 New Living Translation

Jesus has been made Head over all things for the benefit of the Church. You are a member of the Body of Christ so that means YOU.  So you have two scriptures confirming a major purpose of Jesus life, death burial and resurrection: thru these Jesus secured all things to give Himself and them to us.  Always remember this. Jesus did not just give His Life for you, He gave His Life to you!  You have to sincerely think about this and use your Holy Ghost imagination to understand the full meaning of this statement. All of His Life, His Health, His Strength, His Authority, and even the glory that He received from the Father Jesus turned around and gave even that glory to us.  As I say so often, don’t take my word for it, take The Word for it.

The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; John 17:22 New American Standard Bible

So many times in churches you hear from the pulpit, “God gets all the glory, we get none! God will not give His glory to another!!!”  But this scripture tells a different story and its told directly from the mouth of our Lord Jesus Christ. So the glory even is a benefit as is Him making us the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. As a matter of truth righteousness is an means to an end, a progression of sorts. Read the progression that took place in God the Father knowing us when is another benefit to be known of by the Father.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.  Romans 8:29-30 New International Version.

So we have a second scripture confirming our glorification by God the Father Himself.  These are all benefits and they are worth meditating studying and knowing.  When  you do the enemies avenues to put doubt in your mind become less and less and your confidence and assurance in Christ becomes stronger and stronger.

All the ‘blessed’ to you! Shalom!!!

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:  Psalms 103:2 KJV

As human beings, we have a tendency to love benefits.  When we take a job in the world many times after we find out the pay, the next thing we want to know about are the benefits.  Does the company have good health insurance?  Do I get a company car?  Do they reimburse my gym membership?  Does the company encourage a good work/life balance?  All these things and more we want to know about.  These are good things and beneficial to us in most cases.  But if man’s benefits can be good then what do you think of our Father benefits package secured and paid for by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? I know in some cases when things have happened on a job and I have reached out to a manager and they will say, “Now you know, you can get up to 6 weeks of Family Care to cover you while you are out for such and such right?”  In some cases I did not know but in many cases ‘I forgot’ that this was a benefit that was available to me.  I don’t have to pay for it. I don’t have to work extra hours to take advantage of it, it is simply a part of my benefits package.

In the above scripture David by way of the Holy Ghost is reminding himself (and us) and telling his own soul to bless the Lord. How? By not forgetting all His benefits.  Oh this scripture is striking my heart and mind afresh as I have read it many times. May the same anointing and freshness of revelation come upon you in Jesus Name.  When we remember all the benefits we have from and in and thru the Lord Jesus Christ this blesses the Lord.  It brings praise and honor and glory to His Name. Why?  Because if some lie of sickness tries to attack your body and you remember and know that “by His stripe, you were healed”, and you say that and stand on that God is glorified and healing is made manifest.  The truth of God’s Word is made manifest in your life and Jesus is glorified because He shed His Blood for you and me and was beaten with many stripes for the purpose of obtaining our forever perfect and divine health. And that is just one of the many benefits.  Let’s look at a few others since there are too many to name.

3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. Psalms 103:3-6 KJV

Now let’s just sum it up with two verses of scripture to show you the all inclusiveness of your benefits package.  As a believer you are a member of The Body of Christ which is The Church.  Pay close attention to this next verse.

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.  Ephesians 1:22 New Living Translation

God the Father made Jesus Christ head over ALL THINGS – placed everything under Christ authority for whose benefit?  YOURS!!!!!

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ  YOU ARE GETTING THIS!!!! All things are under your authority because you are in Christ and Christ is in you!!!  This authority over all things (not people) is a part of your benefits package.  You need to exercise this authority. That means use it on situations and circumstances in your life KNOWING you HAVE it. God the Father thru Jesus has not only given us authority over all things but He has with Christ given us all things.

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 New International Version

We will pick this up tomorrow. Stay with us all week to learn more about all His benefits.

All the ‘blessed’ to you! Shalom!!!

And he blessed and he broke and he said, “Take eat; this is my body, which is broken for your persons; thus you shall do for my Memorial.                                                                        I Corinthians 11:24  Aramaic Bible in Plain English

Many of you may be familiar with this scripture but I want to share something new and fresh about it that you may know but I just learned a few weeks ago while studying.  One of the great aspects of The Word of God is that it is eternally pregnant and for us birthing greater and greater revelations by way of the Holy Spirit as we spend time in The Word. So as we in the USA celebrate Memorial’s Day and the men and women who have died while serving this great country of ours, we as believers should also allow our minds to turn toward the Ultimate Soilder the Lord Jesus Christ who died not only for a country, but for the entire world past, present and future.  The Father gave up His Son and Jesus came willingly to die for all.

The above scripture references Communion and Jesus gave instructions that we are to take and eat for this is His Body. In a later verse he gives a similar instruction about the cup which is His Blood in the New Testament. The part I want us to focus on is “thus you shall do for my Memorial.  The King James Version speaks of doing this in remembrance of Me(Jesus).  The word remembrance in that verse is a very interesting word with a more interesting meaning.  Let’s take a look at it.

The word remembrance in that verse means:

anamnésis: remembrance

Original Word: ἀνάμνησις, εως, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: anamnésis
Phonetic Spelling: (an-am’-nay-sis)
Definition: a recalling, remembrance, memory.

anámnēsis (from 363 /anamimnḗskō, “bring to mind”) – properly, deliberate recollection, done to better appreciate the effects (intended results) of what happened; active, self-prompted recollection especially as a memorial (memorial sacrifice.

The word also has connotations of recollection.  But pay special attention to this part:
deliberate recollection, done to better appreciate the effects (intended results) of what happened; active, self-prompted recollection especially as a memorial.
Many times believers only engage communion at church or when it is administered by a pastor or minister. I encourage you, Christ has made you a king and a priest under Him the King of Kings and Himself The High Priest so take it upon yourself to take Communion yourself.  The next verse of the above scripture reads.
So after they had dined, he also gave the cup, and he said, “This cup is The New Covenant in my blood. You shall be so doing every time that you drink for my Memorial.”  I Corinthian 11:25 Aramaic Bible in Plain English
So we are encouraged and admonished by Jesus to take communion often as a Memorial to and for Jesus to better appreciate the benefits or intended results of what happened to our Lord Jesus on the Cross and what has happened to and for us as a result of His Life, death, burial and resurrection.  The bread represents His Body which was beaten, pierced, spat upon, slapped pressed and stressed to the point of death. The book of Peter also tells us that Jesus Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree(or Cross) so that we being dead to sin should live to righteousness.  Look at what this means.
Believers because of Jesus’s finished work are:
  • Dead to sin (Not to sinful actions but to sin’s ability to dominate us and bring sickness and disease upon because the  law of the Spirit that of the LIFE which is in Christ Jesus HAS made us FREE from the law of sin and death. Everything that has to do with sin and death we are free from this includes the curse, poverty, sickness, lack, and anything else that came as a result of the fall. WE ARE REDEEMED!  We have redemption thru His Blood.)
  • Dead to the law because Jesus is the end of the law for all who believe.

We are cleansed and HAVE redemption thru His Blood. The Blood is on the mercy seat in Heaven and God no longer sees our sin but sees His sinless Son Who has borne all of our sins past, present and future and that Blood keeps on cleansing us from all unrighteousness.  Jesus’s Blood is eternal and that means it operates outside of time, inside of time and beyond time.

I John 1:9 states that Jesus Blood cleanses us from every unrighteousness.  Psalms 103:2 tells us to allow our souls to bless and praise the Lord and that one of the ways we do this  is by remembering or not forgetting  ALL His benefits.  So MEMORIAL DAY is everyday for the believer not just one day a year.  Be sure to take sometime today and everyday what Jesus’s perfect and ultimate sacrifice has done for you.  This will keep you mindful and beat off and away from you discouragement.

All the ‘blessed’ to you. Shalom!!!

These things spoke Jesus, and having lifted up His eyes to heaven, He said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son in order that the Son may glorify you, even as you gave to Him authority over all flesh, in order that all that you have given Him as a permanent gift, He should give to them life eternal  John 17: 1-2 Kenneth Wuest Translation.

DId you know that you are a gift from God to Jesus?  God gave you to Jesus as a permanent gift.  This is an awesome revelation when you think about Jesus and how He thinks.  First of all if God gave you a gift would you value it?  You have to really think about what I just asked you.  So God the Father, the Creator of the entire expanding universe gives you a gift.  What an honor, what a blessing, what a gift.  But that is exactly what God the Father has actually done. “What gift has God given to me?”  To begin with He has given you the gift of life and if you are born again eternal life.  But more importantly  He has given you Christ as a gift.  And with Christ comes the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 King James Version

So when we look at both of these scriptures we see that God has given us to Jesus as a permanent gift  and he has given Jesus to us as a permanent gift.  One of the things that is important is to realize and know that Jesus loves His Father and that anything His Father gives Him, He values.  So you are important and you are valuable to both Jesus and God the Father.  In this scripture Jesus was talking about his disciples but He also was talking about you.  In the story of Esther before she became queen, she was prepared for months to be “presented” to the king.  You are even more valuable to Jesus than that.  So know your value and know you are a gift to Jesus Himself.  If you think no one values you He does.  I’ll take Jesus’s opinion over man’s any day. Amen!

All the “blessed” to you!!!  Shalom!

And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.” Luke 22:19-20 New American Standard Version

I have said it once and it bears saying again.  God is the most purposeful being in the universe.  Everything He does has purpose, reason and GOOD in it.  He has declared that, “We are assured and know that [[a]God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.”  Romans 8:28 Amplified Bible.  Communion is a thing that God the Father has implemented through Jesus Christ.  It is important that you understand and make a distinction between the bread and the cup as they both have different purposes and functions.

Jesus’s body was broken for us.  The Book of Isaiah tells us the chastisement necessary for us to have peace or shalom(wholeness) was upon Him and with His stripes we are(were) healed.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  Isaiah 53:5 KJV

These are things that happened to Jesus’s body which is represented by the bread.  He said, ‘This is my body.”  When you use matzah which is Jewish bread, it has holes and burns and stripes on it which gives a clearer depiction.  We should always be mindful of the Lord’s body knowing that He Himself bore our sins, sickness and diseases and since He bore them, never be content or comfortable with allowing the slightest symptom to try to dwell or reign in your body.  That thing is trying to get you to bear something Jesus already bore and there are laws, spiritual laws against such things.  Even in the natural there is the law of double jeopardy which says a person cannot be tried or punished for the same crime twice.

Jesus already was tried and judged and punished with and for your sins, iniquities and transgressions.  Do not allow His sacrifice to go by in waste.  Declare, “I cannot be punished for any of the things Jesus was punished for and I cannot be punished with any of the things Jesus was punished with.”

In the same way the cup which represents Jesus’s precious and priceless Blood affords us all the benefits of the New Testament.  It paid for our redemption and the forgiveness of sins.  You should know without a doubt that the Blood of Jesus has covered all your sins, past, present and future.  Jesus said, ” This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.”  All the benefits, all the power, and all the glory of the New Testament is yours through Christ Jesus and His finished work.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.  Ephesians 1:7 New International Version

I love how the redemption is in accordance to the riches of God the Father’s grace. The Blood of Jesus also helps our conscience. It purges cleanses and purifies it.

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:14 KJV

But if within the sphere of the light we are habitually ordering our behavior as He himself is in the light, things in common and thus fellowship we [the believer and God] are having with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son keeps continually cleansing us from every sin.  I John 1:17 Kenneth Wuest Translation

In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people–an agreement confirmed with My blood. Do this to remember Me as often as you drink it.” I Corinthians 11:25  New Living Translation

So enjoy communion daily knowing the benefits and fellowship of it.  Jesus said when we do it, to do it in remembrance of Him.  When you take communion you are declaring, “THE LORD DIED FOR ME!!”

All the “blessed” to you!!! Shalom!

…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. John 10:10 King James Version

When you think of the abundant life, what do you think of.  Do you think of just Heaven and how all will be well when you get there?  You many be shocked to find out that Jesus was not just talking about life in the sweet by and by but the right here and now.  The word life there in that scripture is the greek word zoe and it means spiritual and physical life.  It covers the life you have now and the life to come.  Jesus has covered it ALL.  But even greater than that is what He said after that.  He said that He has come that we might have life and have it more abundantly.  I like the Kenneth Wuest Translation.

…I alone came in order that they might be possessing life, and that they might be possessing it in superabundance.  John 10:10 Kenneth Wuest Translation

SUPER ABUNDANCE!!!! Abundance on steroids.  This is what Jesus has come for us to have, to possess.  Jesus did not come so you can have just enough and barely make it, NO!!!!  The word abundantly in that verse is the greek work  perissós.  It is actually two words the first being  the word  perí, meaning  “all-around, the second meaning excess”).  The Strongs dictionary goes on to define abundantly as – properly all-around, “more than” (“abundantly”); beyond what is anticipated, exceeding expectation; “more abundant,” going past the expected limit (“more than enough . . . “).  This is what Jesus came for you and I to HAVE.  The word have in that verse is the Greek word echo and it means to have, hold and possess.  Not dream about it and pray about it and not see it.  When you think of the price God the Father paid by giving up HIs Son and what Jesus had to go thru to secure that for us, make sure that you do not neglect to HAVE that abundant life.  It’s yours and it’s paid for by Jesus.  Don’t try to qualify for it because YOU CAN’T!!!  Simply receive it by GRACE thru FAITH remembering it’s YOUR Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom!!!!

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!

Having therefore been justified by faith, peace (shalom) we are having with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also our entree we have as a permanent possession into this unmerited favor in which we have been placed permanently, and rejoice upon the basis of hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1 Kenneth Wuest Translation

Yesterday we talked about God the Father and some not so well known aspects and characteristics of our relationship WITH Him.  Today we are going to focus on what we have WITH Him and the Lord Jesus Christ and I believe it will be extremely eye-opening to us all.  The scripture above says that since we are justified by faith or made righteous, peace which is really the Greek word eirene, which is the Hebrew word shalom we are ‘HAVING WITH’ God thru our Lord Jesus Christ. These connecting words are very key and it is extremely important that we understand and define them so that no benefit or provision from the Father thru Jesus is left on the table. Psalms 23 declares He has prepared a table for us in the presence of our enemies. What exactly is on that table?

One of the things there is shalom.  Shalom means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Now the word have or having  is the Greek word echo.  It means to have, hold or possess.  So based on those definitions we can read that scripture above this way and not take away from its structure, context or actual meaning.

Possessing therefore justification by faith, completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony and the absence of agitation or discord we now possess WITH God the Father through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, through Jesus also we have our entrance into the permanent possession of (GRACE) unmerited favor in which we have been placed permanently and rejoice upon the basis of a confident expectation of good and a good opinion of God the Father and of the glory of God the Father. Romans 5:1 Kenneth Wuest Translation expanded thru Strongs definition.

You will notice that I keep capitalizing the word WITH.  I will now tell you why.  When this scripture talks of us having peace or shalom WITH God the Father it is two-fold at least.  God the Father used to be angry with human kind because of sin.  He is no longer. Jesus took all of His wrath upon Himself at the cross giving us and putting us at peace with God the Father.  Let’s see this thru the Word of God.

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5;19 New Living Translation

So you see here it was Poppa Himself in Christ Who reconciled the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them.  It was God the Father Himself in Christ on the the cross. It should have been us but Jesus gave His Life FOR US, then turned around and gave His Life TO US!!!!  This is key to the word WITH. Why? Because God the Father and Jesus live in completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony and the absence of agitation or discord.  So thru Jesus’s finished work they have turned around and shared their very LIFE WITH US.  God the Father is not content to give us a lesser life than He Himself has.  He put a plan into action to give His Life to us.  Meditate this.  Understand this. It WILL change your life.  This does not take place after you go to Heaven. This is ETERNAL LIFE and you HAVE it NOW!!!

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. I John 5:13 NIV

Get this into your consciousness and never let it go!

All the ‘blessed’ to you! Shalom!!!

If you have been readying this blessed blog for anytime you will know that I often refer to God as Poppa. Why because that’s WHO HE IS…. to me!!! This does not make me special but it is a revelation because  you have to get a revelation of God not just as God but as Abba or Father or Poppa or Daddy.  Why? Because that is the Name that Jesus came to reveal to us when and while He was on the Earth.  As usual, don’t take my word for it, take The Word for it.

I have made Your Name known to these men whom You gave me from the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your Word.  John 17:6 International Standard Version

So lets get into the meat of what we will talk about today and all this week. This ties right in with knowing God as Father.  Have you ever noticed in the Bible how in the Old Testament, the people of Israel were called the ‘children‘ of Israel?  But in the New Testament its said “to as many as believed on or in Him to them gave He power to become the ‘sons‘ of God.  So we have an interesting comparison here children and sons.

What makes us a child today as opposed to a son?

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.  Galatians 4:1-2 KJV

The word child there in that scripture is the Greek word népios and it means an infant, fig. a simple-minded or immature person. It also means to be unlearned and unenlightened.

The scripture goes on to say that a child is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. So the Word of God says in Galatians 3:24 that the law WAS our guardian or tutor or governor until Christ came. Well I have Good News for you.  Christ HAS COME.  And if you have received Him and His Grace and the gift of His righteousness as your righteousness then you are not under the law but under GRACE Who is Christ.  This qualifies for you and makes you a son.  Now lets define a son.

But since that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:25 Holman Christian Standard Bible

The word son there in the scripture is the Greek word huios.  Look at some of the definitions of this word huios.

  • properly, a son (by birth or adoption); (figuratively) anyone sharing the same nature as their Father. For the believer, becoming a son of God begins with being reborn (adopted) by the heavenly Father – through Christ (the work of the eternal Son). In hyiós (“son”) equally refers to female believers (Gal 3:28)

  • /hyiós (“son”) emphasizes likeness of the believer to the heavenly Father, i.e. resembling His character more and more by living in faith (“God’s inwrought persuasions)

  • /hyiós (“son”) highlights the (legal) right to the Father’s inheritance, i.e. as the believer lives in conformity with the Father’s nature (purpose)

What I want you to see that this sonship indicates the likeness or sameness of God the Father.  The Bible in John says that as Jesus is, so are we in this world.  Jesus said He and the Father are One.  He prayed that we would be One with Him even as He and the Father are One.  If anyONE gets their prayer answered it’s Jesus, so I believe I am One with Jesus and therefore One with Poppa or the Father.  Tomorrow, we will discover some of the thing we have ours as a result of this Oneness!!

All the “blessed” to you! Shalom!!!

….because as He is, so also are we in this world.  I John 4:17

In one of my favorite movies, Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader while trying to convince his son Luke Skywalker to join him and the Emperor relays a classic line. He says, “If you only knew the power of the dark side!”.  I have a similar statement about the above scripture.  Take a moment and understand what the scripture is saying:

  • As Jesus is healed, whole and healthy, so are you.
  • As Jesus is rich and abundantly supplied, so are you.
  • As Jesus has and had the ability to walk on water, so do you.
  • As Jesus is not of this world, neither are you.

The list goes on and on but the important aspect about it is DO YOU BELIEVE IT?  Do you believe that despite a symptom trying to manifest in your body, that you are still just as healed as Jesus is?  Do you believe that although you may have an undesirable balance in your bank account, that the Lord is your Shepherd and that you do not lack?  Take sometime and really think about this.  You may say, “How can I do that when I am seeing all these contrary situations and circumstances?”.  The answer is ACT LIKE YOUR DADDY AND HIS SON JESUS!  When God looked out and saw darkness in Genesis did you noticed He did not say one word about the darkness?  He only said what He desired, “Light be!!”.  When Jesus was with the people in the desert area and wanted to feed them but only in the natural had five loaves and two fish, He never said anything about lack.  He gave thanks and the unseen abundance from the spiritual realm that belonged to Him all the time was made manifest.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV

This scripture is key to you understanding that as He is so are you.  Jesus did not walk and move and operate off of the seen realm.  If He did he would have faced defeat and doubt and unbelief.  He functioned off of the TRUTH of the unseen realm.  There is no sickness or lack in Heaven and since His eyes were on that life and abundance that is what he manifested here in the Earth realm.  Set your eyes on The Truth, The Word which is Jesus and you will believe and then see that as He is so are you IN THIS WORLD!!!

All the “blessed” to you! Shalom!!!

But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”  Galatians 3:10 New Living Translation

If there was someone or something that was stealing from you everyday but you were not aware of it, would you want someone to tell you or would you prefer to continue being robbed?  No one in their right mind wants to be robbed.  And money is the least of all the things we are referring to.  What if there was something you were doing or participating in that may unknowingly be aiding or abetting (assisting) in you being robbed?  Okay enough with the questions, what are you talking about?  I am talking about legalism and self-righteousness.  Legalism is defined as excessive adherence to the law or formula.  It also means dependence on moral law rather than faith.  You may ask, “Faith in what or who?”  For the Christian it is faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work that He has done for you.

For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with Himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.  Romans 10:3 New Living Translation

So the scripture above says that when people do not know, or understand God’s way of making people right with Himself, they cling to their own way by trying to keep the law.  What law?  The ten commandments and other religious laws made up by man that have nothing to do with righteousness or salvation or God’s way of doing things.  Our opening scripture in Galatians 3:10 says whoever depends on the law or obeying and doing the law to make them right with God is under a curse.  In many churches today the ten commandments is still preached as the go to for right living.  But for 1500 years the law and the commandments were in effect and no one could keep them not David, not Solomon not the prophets.  They were righteous and their sins were covered through the sacrifices of animals like bulls and lambs, until THEE LAMB was brought into the world and slain to cover men’s sins ONCE and FOR ALL.  Once Jesus died, every person’s sin was covered for all time, not just for a year.  Jesus was the perfect Sacrifice.

For He (God the Father) has made him (Jesus), who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (Jesus).  2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV

Now this may seem free and inexpensive to us but it cost God His dear Son whom He loved and loves.  This is no light thing.  Jesus took our sins upon him by faith although He never committed one sin and then gave us His standing that He always had and has once again with The Father after He was born again.  Jesus after taking our sins by faith was then able to die(death can only come through sin) and then after The Father saw that Jesus precious and priceless Blood covered our sins and Jesus took all the wrath, anger, sickness, disease, death and punishment upon Him that really was meant for us, The Father then declared our sin debt paid in full and that we were then justified or made righteous because of what Jesus did.

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.  Romans 4:25 New International Version

If we were not justified or made righteous Jesus could not have been raised because He was raised for our justification.  So you can see how serious and glorious this issue of righteousness is.  Since Jesus has done all this for us, to turn around and act or say, “You know what Jesus I’ll just be righteous on my own by making sure I cross every t and dot every i is really a smack in the face to God and Jesus.  And it puts a believer back under the curse because they are trying to establish their own righteousness instead of accepting what Jesus has already done.  So what does all this have to do with robbery?  Because if you try to live under the law instead of just accepting what Jesus has done for you, the curse will continue to operate in your life and steal health, wealth, peace and whatever else it can from you.  The sad thing is the person behind it is still the enemy, the devil.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 New International Version.

For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:17 New Living Translation

He (the devil) is still the same and he is the real source behind the curse and behind getting people to try to live under the law instead of accepting the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.  In another translation that last part reads the gratuity of righteousness.  You have to pay your restaurant bill but the gratuity that you leave is a free gift given by your choice and will.  The gratuity is a reflection of the giver not the receiver.  Righteousness is a gift a gratuity based on the giver, God the Father who loved us when we were unlovable.  He knew we could not fulfill the law and sent Jesus who could and credited His fulfilling the law to our account. We got Jesus’s good and He got our bad.  Since Jesus went through all that He did for us, understand that even when you miss it it does not change your righteous standing because you did not do anything to get the righteousness you received except believe it.  And even the faith you used to do that was from Jesus.  He is the author and finisher of faith.  Don’t worry about comparing yourself to other Christians or preachers or anyone.  Just know you are accepted in the Beloved, Jesus and you have His righteousness FOREVER.

When you depend on that you are depending on grace and the curse will never ever be able to touch you as you keep your confidence and faith in The Truth that ‘you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!!!

All the “blessed” to you!!! Shalom!
