JUST DA TRUTH-ABOUT “YOUR” SAMENESS WITH JESUS! Part 1

Having therefore been justified by faith, peace (shalom) we are having with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also our entree we have as a permanent possession into this unmerited favor in which we have been placed permanently, and rejoice upon the basis of hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1 Kenneth Wuest Translation

If you have been readying this blessed blog for anytime you will know that I often refer to God as Poppa. Why because that’s WHO HE IS…. to me!!! This does not make me special but it is a revelation because  you have to get a revelation of God not just as God but as Abba or Father or Poppa or Daddy.  Why? Because that is the Name that Jesus came to reveal to us when and while He was on the Earth.  As usual, don’t take my word for it, take The Word for it.

I have made Your Name known to these men whom You gave me from the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your Word.  John 17:6 International Standard Version

So lets get into the meat of what we will talk about today and all this week. This ties right in with knowing God as Father.  Have you ever noticed in the Bible how in the Old Testament, the people of Israel were called the ‘children‘ of Israel?  But in the New Testament its said “to as many as believed on or in Him to them gave He power to become the ‘sons‘ of God.  So we have an interesting comparison here children and sons.

What makes us a child today as opposed to a son?

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.  Galatians 4:1-2 KJV

The word child there in that scripture is the Greek word népios and it means an infant, fig. a simple-minded or immature person. It also means to be unlearned and unenlightened.

The scripture goes on to say that a child is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. So the Word of God says in Galatians 3:24 that the law WAS our guardian or tutor or governor until Christ came. Well I have Good News for you.  Christ HAS COME.  And if you have received Him and His Grace and the gift of His righteousness as your righteousness then you are not under the law but under GRACE Who is Christ.  This qualifies for you and makes you a son.  Now lets define a son.

But since that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:25 Holman Christian Standard Bible

The word son there in the scripture is the Greek word huios.  Look at some of the definitions of this word huios.

  • properly, a son (by birth or adoption); (figuratively) anyone sharing the same nature as their Father. For the believer, becoming a son of God begins with being reborn (adopted) by the heavenly Father – through Christ (the work of the eternal Son). In hyiós (“son”) equally refers to female believers (Gal 3:28)

  • /hyiós (“son”) emphasizes likeness of the believer to the heavenly Father, i.e. resembling His character more and more by living in faith (“God’s inwrought persuasions)

  • /hyiós (“son”) highlights the (legal) right to the Father’s inheritance, i.e. as the believer lives in conformity with the Father’s nature (purpose)

What I want you to see that this sonship indicates the likeness or sameness of God the Father.  The Bible in John says that as Jesus is, so are we in this world.  Jesus said He and the Father are One.  He prayed that we would be One with Him even as He and the Father are One.  If anyONE gets their prayer answered it’s Jesus, so I believe I am One with Jesus and therefore One with Poppa or the Father.  Tomorrow, we will discover some of the thing we have ours as a result of this Oneness!!

All the “blessed” to you! Shalom!!!
