For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Hebrews 5:13 King James Version

Babies are wonderful creatures.  They are cute, small, helpless therefore yielding and need someone to take care of them.  When a person is a baby one does not become upset that they have to clean up after them and feed them each time they cry or change their diaper.  This is all expected behavior.  However when that same baby turns into a 13-year-old teenager who is almost the size of the parent in height if not weight and they ask, “Mommy, where’s my sippy cup?”, that situation is no longer cute and changes to, “Houston we have a problem!”.  The same applies to believers.  When you are first-born again the diet you have and partake of is the milk of The Word.  Things work in the spirit similarly to how they work in the natural.  The natural manifest out of the spirit not the other way around.  And while you may have been on milk for a while, milk cannot be a lifetime diet specifically if a believer wants to grow strong spiritually, mentally and physically.

This scripture gives one of the signs that a believer is growing and is becoming skillful.  I am not aware of another area of the Bible and more specifically the New Testament where it shows that a particular topic identifies where a believer is growth wise besides Love.  This scripture reveals that a person who is unaware or tries to live some other way other than by and in the word of righteousness is a babe.  As believers we must understand that we don’t have any righteousness on our own.  But the just shall live by faith.  Faith in what?  Faith in the finished work of Christ that He and He alone is our righteousness.  What we do or don’t do does not affect our righteousness or right standing with the Father.  When a believer is unskillful in the word or knowledge of righteousness, they go about trying to live holy instead of realizing they are holy and it is not based on themselves.  One of the other things you will see is they will try to live off a mixture of law and grace which will never work.  John 1 tells us that Jesus, Who is Grace is FULL of GRACE & TRUTH, not grace, truth and the law.  Everything we have and are is because of Christ and He has declared IT IS FINISHED!!!

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: I Corinthians 1:30 King James Version

This scripture tells you with perfect clarity that Christ is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification (which is holiness), and redemption. I am going to say something that is going to shock some of you but this is DA TRUTH.  If you are not married you should not be having sexual relations BUT you not having sexual relations does not make you righteous.  Someone just fell out of their seat.  Don’t get up because I have more good news for you.  Yes I called that Good News because it is the Gospel, it is The Truth!!!  Not drinking beer does not make you righteous no more than drinking beer makes you righteous.  Now let me clear up what I just said because there are believers who would love to just focus on saying that I am condoning sin.  Nothing could be further from DA TRUTH.  This is exactly what the writer is talking about in our first scripture, where man comes up with a doctrine and we believe that and it has no basis on or in The Word of righteousness.  The Word of God tells us do not add to it and do not take away from it.  Let’s use the example of drinking and lets use wine.  There is a scripture that says specifically don’t be drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit.

Now The Holy Ghost is not stupid or dense or forgetful.  If He wanted to say, “Don’t drink wine”, then He would have said “don’t drink wine.”  But with that you have believers who add to the scripture who say that drinking wine is a sin.  If you believe that and you drink then it is sin for you because whatsoever is not of faith is sin.  But to simply add something that the scripture does not say is and to order people to live that way is self-righteousness and creating your own law.  This person has added something to the scripture to justify what they are saying or believing for some reason.  I want you to think about something and I want you to see the truth and let go of the lie.  In John chapter 2 did Jesus, our Lord and Saviour change water into wine?  Yes He did.  Then if Jesus turned water into wine and drinking wine is a sin then Jesus just aided and abetted sin.  But The Word of God says Jesus knew no sin, He committed no sin and in Him is no sin.  If the drinking of wine was a sin then Jesus perfumed a miracle to help people sin.  That is utter foolishness.  Doctrines of this type lead believers into condemnation and confusion.  Then you have some dishonest people who in order to continue to hold to what they believe will go further and say, “Well Jesus did not turn water into wine, it was grape juice.”  Now as Brother Hagin would say that is ignorance gone to seed.  Once again the Holy Ghost is not stupid and if it was grape juice he would have said, “Jesus turned the water to grape juice.”

Now some will say, Brother Vincent is trying to justify something because he likes to drink.  You would be mistaken.  My point is when you believe wrong, you will live wrong.  When the enemy can get you to live out something that you think adds to or makes you holy or righteous he will turn you into his Pinocchio and pull on the strings of the law or some other unscriptural doctrine and get you focused on what you do and don’t do instead of what Jesus has done.  That is what the law is all about.  If you do something wrong you are cursed.  The law is about do good, get good.  Do bad get beat!  If you live according to what you do and don’t do you will NEVER have the confidence necessary to be skillful in the Word of Righteousness because you will be to busy trying to establish your own righteousness instead of knowing and standing in, “I AM the righteousness of God, in Christ Jesus!!”

Don’t stay on milk.  If you do you will be tossed about with every wind of doctrine that someone comes up with.  I have been there and it’s not pretty.  I don’t want another person to be bound by condemnation and live beneath their privilege and rights thinking that sin is greater than GRACE.  This is not a license to sin, this is the GRACE and love of God.  God loved us while we were yet sinners.  The word of God says, “In righteousness you shall be established for you shall not fear.”  For a preacher or anyone to tell you that you are not righteous because you smoke (cigarettes or weed), do drugs or whatever is a lie.  What they are saying is that your hangup is greater than the Blood of Jesus to cleanse you from that.  Please know that makes that preacher unskilled in the word of righteousness.  The person who thinks that way does not understand righteousness and the finished work of Christ.  JESUS’ SACRIFICE IS GREATER!!!  Know this!!!

Did you ever stop and think about the truth that every single unsaved person that you know and don’t know has already been forgiven of every single sin they have or ever will commit over 2000 years ago?  You may know a man who sleeps with seven different women, but if that man accepts Jesus Christ he will immediately become just as righteous as Jesus is.  That is the work and power of righteousness and the finished work of Christ.  Think about that and let it help you see the truth about righteousness.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!

You are to be supernaturally natural and naturally supernatural”  Bro.  Kenneth E. Hagin
