Those hating me without cause have been more than the hairs of my head, Mighty have been my destroyers, My lying enemies, That which I took not away — I bring back. Psalms 69:4  Youngs Literal Translation

Have you ever been surprised by what people do or have done to you?  The treachery, the trickery, the deceitfulness to it all.  If you don’t watch it you can wind up becoming very bitter and damage yourself.  The wound may seem even more painful when this type of betrayal or behavior comes from a co-worker, family member, close friend or even a man or woman of God.  This is why we must always pay attention to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  This scripture is David talking as he was betrayed and even abandoned by those closest to him and even his own son Absalom.  The men whom David trusted with his life turned their back on him and took league with those against him.  It hurt I am sure but I don’t really know if David was surprised.  After having dealt with Saul and being entirely loyal to him, King Saul became jealous of David and even tried to kill him on multiple occasions.  However regardless of what David dealt with it still was no comparison to whom this scripture really refers to, the Lord Jesus Himself.  Betrayed by those He fed, led, protected and kept safe Jesus knew this was going to happen and still walked in Love.  He was hurt I am sure because he was human, but He was not surprised.  The original mention of this scripture is in the Old Testament in Psalms but this same scripture is referenced again in the New Testament by Jesus Himself which proves it spoke of Him.

This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures: ‘They hated me without cause.’  John 15:25  New Living Translation Jesus never sinned.  Since He did no sin this means that He never did anything wrong and He never did anybody wrong.  Do you have that same testimony in the natural?  Of course not.  We have all did someone wrong at some point in time, intentionally or unintentionally.  The point here is that if Jesus Who did no wrong was not surprised when people did Him wrong, neither should we be surprised.  We should not be surprised when sinners sin.  They are sinners. That is what they do.  We also should not be surprised if and when a fellow believer does us wrong,  because they still have the sin in the flesh to deal with just as you.  This is not an excuse to do people wrong or allow them to get away with it.  This is a defense to offense.  The Bible says even when people told Jesus about their loyalty, it said He did not put His trust in men because He knew men.  But  yet His defense was not that He would not love or let anyone get close to Him.  His defense was He was ever ready to forgive, even Peter who betrayed Him and denied Him three times.  Jesus looked beyond Peter’s flesh and saw who Peter really was and who he would become.  If Jesus had come down on Peter and forsaken him, I believe this would have crushed Peter and I don’t believe he would have become the great Apostle we know him as today.  But thank God for His   loving kindness and tender mercy.  When we put our hope and trust in Jesus expecting Him to protect and cover us regardless of what people do or don’t do, this dependency on Him causes us to be able to grow and allow reconciliation just like when Jesus reconciled us back to God the Father.  This was the Father’s plan and intent anyway. It was God in Christ the whole time reconciling the world to Himself because of His great love.

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.  2 Corinthians 5:19 New Living Translation

So you see it was Poppa’s Love the whole time and that same love is in you.

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. Romans 5:5 New Living Translation

The very love of God the Father Himself is in our hearts.  So don’t be surprised when people act ugly, even yourself.  There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.  Just know the beautiful love of God the Father HAS covered a multitude of sin for you and others through Jesus Christ.  I heard this confession from Brother Kenneth E. Hagin.  Although it was given many years ago it is still just as powerful and anointed today.

“I am a child of Love.  I am born of the Spirit of Love.  The Spirit of Love leads me.  He is leading me now.  The Holy Spirit of Love rises big in me.  He gives illumination to my mind.  He gives direction to my spirit.  I am being led by the Spirit of Love.”

Having faith in God IS having faith in Love because God is Love.  Keep that in mind and everything is already fine.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!

  1. Do you know what I always wonder? How did Peter get rid of or overcome the memory of what he did? How did Peter cope with the image of when he hurt Jesus so that he could go on in peace and wonderment? That’s what I wonder – it would be a help to know.

    Always wonderful posts, Vincent.
