Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean…. John 13:10 NIV
If you are born again, you are clean and righteous because of Jesus’s Blood. (If you are not click on the section entitled DA 1 FRIEND U NEED). In the above scripture Jesus’s is speaking with His disciples before He is to go to the Cross and die. Although He was the Master and Lord He took off His outer garment and girded Himself with a towel so that He could wash His disciples feet. If you study out Eastern culture in that time the task of washing feet of members of the household was given to the lowest rank servant of the house. This shows Jesus’s humility and is an example of the attitude we should have one towards another. There are so many secrets in this one act of Jesus Himself washing feet, but I want to share with you one that will allow you to let Jesus wash “YOUR” feet.
Jesus says the ones who have had a bath (regeneration and salvation by the new birth) are clean all over, they only need to have their feet cleaned. Let’s make this clear once you are saved you have eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9). You are the righteousness of God. Nothing can change that. However in our everyday lives we come into contact with dirt, and grime in the form of ungodliness. It can be as simple as a TV commercial that says when you reach a certain age your bones will began to ache or degrade. That is dirt! That is something trying to create an imagination or thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God Who says, “By Jesus’s stripe you WERE HEALED!!!” You hear that commercial 5 to 6 times per week and it may begin to affect your thinking and thereby your believing. How are you going to wash your feet or mind from that?
That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, .. Ephesians 5:26 KJV
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
John 17:17 NIV
So you see when you spend time with and in The Word Who is JESUS, this allow JESUS to wash your feet, your mind. It’s as if He is washing your feet personally just like He did the disciples. He knows this world will try to lead us astray with contrary beliefs and thoughts but He has provided for us to and given us HIS MIND which is The Word. So take time out daily to allow Jesus to wash your feet. You will be glad you did.
All the “blessed” to you! Shalom!!!
