But, as for you, divinely loved ones, building yourselves up constantly in the sphere of and by means of your most holy Faith, and as constantly praying in the sphere of and by means of the Holy Spirit, with watchful care keep yourselves within the sphere of God’s love, expectantly looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ resulting in life eternal. Jude 1:20 Kenneth Wuest Translation
Prayer in general and praying in the Spirit is a powerful weapon given to the Body of Christ. There are so many things that prayer does and provides for us when we engage it. Today we are going to take a look at how it even causes our hearts and minds to be guarded. Lets take a look at Phillipians 4:6-7.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
When you look at the word ‘careful’ you should see that it has the meaning of being full of care. The book of Peter admonishes us to ‘cast ALL of our cares on Jesus because He cares for us. If it helps your thinking see Jesus caring as Jesus carrying things for you or having carried things for you. The reason why I put this in past tense is because Jesus HAS ALREADY carried or bore your cares and diseases and other things.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:4 KJV
So now that we have laid that foundation we can see that Jesus does not desire for us to be worried or full of care about ANYTHING. Why? Because He’s already taken care of it. So what do we do? We pray about EVERYTHING. From a hang nail to a supposedly serious disease. This is where prayer in the Spirit can help so much. When you pray in the Spirit although you do not know what you are saying, you can pray with your mind on a particular thing and it will be covered. In addition to this when we pray targeted in English and the Spirit or with a supplication or request and give thanks because we believe we receive, we then have a promise. The promise is that the peace or shalom of God which passeth understanding will guard and protect your HEART and your MIND. This is invaluable in todays troubled world. The world does not know peace because they do not know the Prince of Peace. But you do!!!
All the ‘blessed’ to you! Shalom!!!
