JUST DA TRUTH – ABOUT STAND STILL vs. SIT STILL

Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.  Ruth 3:18 King James Version

If you are familiar with the story of Ruth and Boaz you may or may not know that Boaz is a picture of Christ Jesus our Redeemer. Boaz is a kinsman redeemer for the family of Ruth and Naomi.  After meeting Boaz and gleaning in his field and already gaining favor with him, Ruth wonders and seems to be a bit anxious about what will happen next.  But notice the wisdom of Naomi as she tells Ruth to ‘sit still’ my daughter until you know how the matter will fall.   The word matter there is the Hebrew word dabar.  The word dabar means word.  So you can say, “Sit still, until you know how the WORD will fall or lie: for the man (Boaz/Jesus) will not rest until He has finished the thing this day.  Jesus did not stop until He said, “It is finished!” on the Cross.  The interesting thing is that Naomi told Ruth to ‘sit still’ even though her and Ruth needed  this deliverance.  Under the law a similar statement was said when the children of Israel were anxious about a much needed deliverance.

But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.  Exodus 14:13 New Living Translation

Notice in this case with Moses, Moses told the people ‘stand still’.  Would you agree that sitting is a more comfortable position than even standing? When you are seated you can rest and relax your body. You can take a complete rest. And if you are seated with Jesus you can rest even more.  Let’s look at Jesus being told to sit down by The Father.

David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”‘  Mark 12:36 NIV

Here David foresaw God the Father telling Jesus to sit down until I put your enemies under your feet.

When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand  Mark 16:19 New Living Translation

So Jesus is seated at the right hand of The Father.  So where are you?

For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.  Ephesians 2:6 New Living Translation

So we were raised up with Christ when He was raised and we have been seated with Him in the Heavenly realms because we are united with Him.  We are seated in the place of honor ‘with Christ’.  One of the big things to consider is that Moses told the children of Israel to “stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which He will show you today.”  They only saw the salvation.  We HAVE SALVATION, because we HAVE Jesus, Yeshua which means God saves. We also have eternal salvation that means we are forever preserved, delivered, prospered, healthy and saved.  This has all been done for us by Jesus.  He did not rest until EVERYTHING was finished.  He finished the matter.  He fulfilled the law and now we are no longer under the law but under GRACE Who is Jesus!!!!!  Whatever you are facing sit still for Jesus has already finished the matter.

All the ‘blessed’ to you!!! Shalom!
